Update started. Last update, I was at the end of the rollout, but this time - right out of the gate.

Can you share more about the charging issues?
Yeah, every so often I’ll go to charge at home and the truck refuses to initiate the charge. It will try like 4 or 5 times to start but will still fail. Only hard rebooting the truck will fix it. It only started with this last update. I have a SC appt scheduled for Monday but may postpone or cancel depending on if this fixes its

Thanks! There have been many experiencing charging issues since last update. Some had unexpected battery drain which seemed like a charging issue. Others would have the truck randomly stop charging.

So, if I don't update I don't have to pay $15/month, right? I know it'll be unavoidable in the future but there's nothing really in this particular update that makes me want to start that 60 day countdown.

The 60 day countdown has already started no matter if you upgrade or not.

Apple Music and Apple Podcasts were separate apps on Tesla, so I'd assume the same for Rivian. But Rivian will have Audible! Even though I could play Audible with Alexa, this will be so much better (I hope). I will be refreshing the app all day until I get this update. Last time I was a couple days behind :(

I got the notification about an hour back, but need to drive to office now. So will be installing later tonight.

Also have a mobile appointment day after tomorrow, so not that worried in case update is stuck etc :-D

I opted in last night (annual subscription) and have Auto Updates on, connected to WiFI and plenty of charge. No update yet :) - I keep moving the install time up after the update doesn’t appear.

Update dropped for my R1T last night, and installed this morning. No major issues, although the update did take a bit longer than 50 minutes.. More like 1.5 hours start to finish.

Apple music will be a game changer... now i'll wait patiently for a podcast app.

Idk about you guys, but the Spatial Audio with Apple Music sounds great!!
I have the exact opposite issue. The audio is a complete cluster now. For reference I listened on BT using Apple Music. I had my volume set at 17, Dynamic audio On (not enhanced). I cannot figure it out now. It doesn't even matter if its Apple Music or BT, I need to drop the volume.

When a Dolby Atmos song comes on a 10 sounds decent. If it's not Dolby Atmos a 10 is insanely high and I need to cut volume down all the way to a 5. This is with default or Rock setting, it doesn't matter.

A few other things I noticed too.

1. When playing Dolby Atmos I'm pretty sure the Dynamic audio is irrelevant. I changed these around and saw no sound difference. That might be by design, not sure.

2. I'm not sure Dynamic audio is working properly anyway though. Even if its a non-Dolby Atmos song Off and On sound EXACTLY the same, I saw no difference over multiple songs. Enhanced does sound like there is a difference.

3. Cover art basically never loads when using Apple Music.

4. Apple Music does not remember where I was. I get out and get back in and the app loads but if I was playing a playlist it doesn't remember it causing me to start over.

5. If I want to shuffle a playlist I have to do it EVERY time, it doesn't default to it. I feel like shuffle should be a default setting when choosing a playlist, but that's maybe just me.

Bottom line I'm not even sure I will use it which is a disappointment for me. I didn't care about Carplay, I just wanted Apple Music, but as petty as it sounds constantly scrolling volumes up and down and getting all sorts of different playback is a pretty bad experience thus far. I will play around with it more, but after 15 minutes I figured I would deal with it later.

Side note when I got in my Garage Door driver dash display was not there. A soft reset and toggle of the setting on and off fixed that. Just FYI for anyone else.

Question. Will having the Apple Music make the sound quality and “loudness” better than listening to Spotify? As many of us know. The sound system is lacking in some areas. I am really curious if having Apple Music with Atmosphere makes the overall sound quality and loudness better?

Hate having to crank it to like 18+ to even feel like I’m truly listening to music.

In my experience so far, it sounds better and is louder. I’ve been swapping back and forth between Spotify and Apple Music, keeping volume consistent, and Apple definitely is louder

Damn sorry to hear you’re experiencing that. Definitely agree on shuffle settings and remembering last place, but not experiencing all the cover art issues
