I thought I could use the Level 2 charger that Rivian provides in my dryer outlet at our vacation property and the outlet doesn't quite match up. Please see attached pictures showing the outlet and the type of plug on the dryer. Anyone know what kind of adapter I might need to connect to the Rivian provided Level 2 charger and if possible, please post a link to purchase. Much thanks

That's a 14-30 30-amp dryer receptacle. You need something like this:
https://www.amazon.com/ELETHOR-Char...f6d32fde0fbc3cb7b85b2d7eb506abd5&gad_source=1

Be sure to buy one specifically for EV charging - other adapters that may look physically identical will not work if they do not explicitly say they are for EV charging.

Very important: You will also need to set your truck to charge at 24 amps when using this plug.

@racekarl - thank you, this is super helpful and I've ordered the appropriate adapter.

My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem

I would also recommend you purchase a COMMERCIAL grade, vs. standard. They are designed to handle the duty cycle of high current over long periods of time.

This is such an awesome response. After seeing many a response of “Why don’t you Google that??”, your info-and-wisdom-filled reply is seriously a breath of fresh air.

@Ohm Boy totally agree and appreciate kindness here in this forum. I actually did Google initially and used pictures but ended up ordering the wrong type of adapter. I love my Rivian and it’s been a big learning curve that I’ve navigated mostly on my own as a 52 year old female, so at times, like on my first 1200 mile road trip, I’ve been a bit nervous. But I’m learning and growing a lot!

Fun fact, EV chargers do not use the neutral pin when charging from 240V sources, which is the bent blade or the straight blade opposite the round ground on the 50A plug. So that means you can take a hack saw or dremel to the neutral blade of your Rivian 50A plug to remove it and it’ll plug in to both a 50A and a 30A dryer receptacle.

But yes, most people just opt to buy an adapter ;)

Do remember to dial down the amps to 24A when charging from such a receptacle.
