That would be the seat exhaust. Ventilated seats draw air from the seat cushion perforations. All are designed that way to pull heat from body and providing a cooling effect.
Not how the Rivian works. Definitely blows upward.

This already exists but, I do not know what the temperature threshold is. It will kick on to preserve the screens/electronics in extreme temps.
You are a 100% correct. My R1S is currently at a bodyshop in service mode, but I got a notification yesterday that the cabin was 126 degrees and cooling is being turned on to protect electronics. So maybe 126 degrees F. is the threshhold?

This is not how Rivian seats' ventilation works.
There is no industry standard for which direction the air moves through ventilated seats. The ventilated seats in Rivian vehicles push air through the seat perforations to blow against the occupants body.
I’ll have to test ya’ll’s theory when I get back to my R1. I’ve never once seen a vented seat blow air from below. An easy way to test is get a gas receipt or similar small piece of paper to see if it sticks or floats when ventilation is on.

I haven't done any "scientific" tests, but I definitely know what it feels like to have air blown up my ass... ?

No kidding....the number of click bait articles all over the internet with intentionally misleading headlines are out of hand.

I’ve only owned 2 cars with ventilated seats (Ford & Rivian) and both blow air through the seat towards the person sitting in the seat. I just verified the Rivian ventilated seat works this way with a small piece of paper… for science. The effect was very similar to air hockey, actually. :)

Thank you for experimenting! I have no problem eating crow. In my experience the majority of seat ventilation is the heat extraction type. It makes less sense to circulate cabin air through the seat because when you need it most the cabin air is warmer than the body.

I suspect there are trade-offs either way and different manufacturers come up with different solutions, as they tend to do. I think that whether ventilated seats suck or blow :bandit: they still provide more comfort than a non-ventilated seat in the same configuration and circumstances.

My Range Rover blew AC air thru the seats. I miss that.

For anyone really interested in the seat design Sandy Monroe has a complete seat teardown video on YouTube from like 2022 and around the 22 minute mark it shows the fan assembly and how the ventilation works.. just look up Rivian R1T seat it's easy to find. ?

I’m hoping the PAAK improvements are for all iPhone 15 Pro’s. That is what I have and the last update definitely made the PAAK worse for me. I have had to take my phone out and physically unlock it on the app more than a few times now.

I’m also hoping my garage icon pops up again when I get close to home. It used to work but has gone away since the last update and I’ve tried to turn it on and off and a soft reset to no avail. Both of these issues are mildly annoying so I figured they would be fixed in the next update.

I figured with the Gen 2 release this would be a big update and I love having a car that continually improves!
Okay, so I never post in forums, but this one really annoyed me.
I did the soft reboot and it didn't fix it. So I went into the settings turned off the location based garage door on the steering wheel button, then turned it back on and now it works fine.
Settings > Connections > Garages > arrow to the right of your garage. Turn off location based garage opening, then turn it back on. Hopefully that fixes your issue as well.
