I think the R1 styling does a better job of moving towards future truck styling
I suppose that's possible; the sales numbers will be the final arbiter of what the future actually is.

Is it your belief that the Rivian R1T (and R1T successors) will be more common on the roads of the future than the Cybertruck?

Tesla plans to make 500,000/year and I suspect they will. That's how good the Cybertruck is. You might need to actually use one to understand. How many R1T's does Rivian plan to make?

You're right about that. Ford doesn't brag about their steering innovations, because there aren't any.

You are essentially correct here too. It's not just the responsive steering that makes the Cybertruck a "gamechanger", it's the way the entire package comes together to create truck that is far more functional than any other. It's the versatility in a wide range of tasks, and how fun it is to drive, and how comfortable the cabin is, whether the driving environment is smooth or rugged.

The "disregard for reality" comment was referring to people who push the narrative that the Cybertruck has "laggy steering" when the wheels actually turn faster than the quickest human could turn a conventional steering rack.
Got it. It's the way they package the "barely better than an F-150" steering" with the other questionable decisions that really creates the magic.

I don't consider it functional that I could only reach over the side of a truck bed at the very rear, which on the CT also happens to include sharp points everywhere you look.

I also don't consider a 4' long wiper "functional."

I could go on and on.

I'm glad you like your Cybertruck. I mean that. But this sales pitch for all its incremental "innovations" has already been shot down here long ago. You can enjoy it as much as I enjoy my R1T and we can chat it up at a Supercharger someday. I'll be the guy laughing hysterically at Mr. Muscles.

I'm curious how many miles of use you have to inform your opinions on the Cybertruck? It's fine if you don't like it, I just want to know if you're talking from a position of knowledge or not. Because sharing experiences is what forums like this are all about. That's how we learn.

I also don't consider a 4' long wiper "functional."
I'm genuinely curious why you think that.

I could go on and on.
I'm sure you could, I just want to know whether your opinions are formed with first-hand user experiences or just what you read on Jalopnik, etc.?

I would like that. We both might learn something.

0 miles. And I don't need to drive it to make those judgments I mentioned, do I?

If the "barely better than an F-150" steering lag is recorded as .8 seconds I don't need to drive it and do my own test. Common sense tells me it isn't the innovation Tesla stans claimed it would be.

If the bed is useless IMO because of the high sides I don't need to drive it to verify do I?

If the wiper looks ridiculous because Elon believed he wouldn't need one or could use a "laser wiper" so this one is an afterthought, I don't need to drive it to confirm, do I?

How many miles do you have in a Rivian or other EV trucks to constantly claim the Cybertruck is better? See how that works? Loving the CT as much as you do is based purely on your opinion just like it's my opinion I don't like it.

I'm speechless.

Believe what you want, without any evidence.

BTW, how is this bed useless:

No, the bed is not sagging, it's set to "Entry" height, to make the loading of these rounds easier. It automatically lifted up as soon as I put it in drive.

Also, I did some testing comparing my F-150 4x4 (stock) to my Cybertruck, in terms of reaching over the side of the bed. I'm 6'-04" (191 cm) tall. and have long arms. I can only reach into the bed of my F-150 if the item is right next to the side of the bed. If it's beside the wheel well, I can't get it. If the item is heavy, I can't get it either.

On my Cybertruck in entry suspension height, the rear half of the bed is actually easier to access from the side vs. my F-150. Because the bed height goes lower (the F-150 suspension height is non-adjustable).

In 14 years of using the F-150, it's very rare for me to reach down into the bed from the sides, that's a sure-fire way to dirty all your cloths by rubbing on the sides of the bed. People shorter than 6'-04' will find it even less practical.

Modern trucks are almost always loaded and unloaded via the tailgate. The whole "can't access the bed from the side" is a lame attempt to make it seem less useful. Tall bed sides are great, if they hindered function, we would all be driving flatbeds! I like the security and load capacity the bed sides provide. They provide a huge amount of lockable storage in the giant vault.

In all my years driving trucks, I've never wished the bed was shallower, the wipers were shorter, or the steering was slower. When power-sliding the Cybertruck, the superfast lock to lock steering allows for heaps more control than a traditional slow as molasses steering rack. And when dodging huge potholes, the steering can actually keep up with them, no need to frantically go hand over hand.

Yes, I've used both, so I'm speaking from experience.

You are never "speechless".

But you didn't actually address anything I said either. You just hit repeat and went back to your default claims about the Cybertruck. I said I didn't like the bed design, the wiper, and simply pointed out the steering lag is bad. I didn't say you needed to share my opinion or agree with me.

I'm sorry if your clothes get dirty using the bed of your truck , but I reached over the side of my Tacoma all the time. Same thing with my R1T. Usually to reach the anchor in the front of the bed when I am securing or removing cargo. Are you seriously telling me it's MORE convenient to climb in the bed from the tailgate and crawl forward to the anchors? What if you already have stuff in the bed? What about your clothes?:CWL:

Man I love the gear tunnel door. Step, step, step, I'm on the roof*. And it's actually usable to put things up there.

*Not advisable to stand on glass roof.

Yeah I reach over the bed sides in the R1T and for the 20 years I drove my Tacoma. That’s a nice feature imo.

No, I'm telling you Ford made the bed of my F-150 so frickin' tall, I can't reach over with two hands to tie to the bed anchors. The Cybertruck has the same issue in the forward part of the bed, but is better than the F-150 in the rearward part of the bed. And the Cybertruck has the load track 18" off the floor of the bed. So it's easier to reach the load anchors than the F-150 anchors mounted near bed level. BTW, I never "crawl" around in the bed of my pickups, I walk.

I'm not trying to say the Ford is unworkable, obviously it has worked fine for me for 14 years or I would have sold it and bought a flatbed. I'm just saying the Cybertuck is not worse than the F-150, it's better.

In other words, the sail sides of the Cybertruck don't significantly impact my usage of trucks because I never did reach over the bedsides in the normal course of loading/unloading or securing the load. Most Modern trucks are too tall for that, but now, with the Cybertruck in Entry Mode, I can secure loads from the side. If I want to secure to a point all the way forward, I still have to get into the bed. But I'm accustomed to doing that.

I'm just saying, you have been misinformed by people looking for reasons to bash the Cybertruck. How do they do that? They look at obvious differences between Cybertruck and legacy trucks and then make up reasons why those differences are a problem. It's mostly a bunch of fiction.

I can reach over the bed sides of my F-150 too, the question is whether it accomplishes anything useful (reaching all the way down to the bed in a meaningful way). In the Cybertruck I can secure loads just reaching over to the L-track mounted 18" above the bed floor. And the bed height is lower to begin with (in Entry Mode).

Also, a 20-year-old Tacoma is not as tall as a recent model year Tacoma, so you are comparing smaller, older trucks. We need to compare to modern, currently available 1/2 tons.

The R1T has adjustable suspension (though not as much adjustment as the Cybertruck) and the bed sides are only 19" high, so of course a person of reasonable height can reach over. Not all 1/2 ton 4x4's are that small.

And when was the last time a truck owner removed his lift kit so he could reach over the bed? Most people don't care (at all) about having side access to their giant trucks.

Why does someone having an opinion about it that is different from yours bother you so much? We are literally talking about subjective items that even you should be able to understand others may or may not like.

Yet in your mind it is only possible to hold differing opinions if they are "misinformed". Please explain to me how it is "misinformed" to prefer being able to reach into the bed of my truck? Or to not like the look of a 4' long windshield wiper? These are ALL things each person can decide for themselves.... We get it - you love EVERY part of your Cybertruck :CWL:

Some people were pretty upset early on that Rivian didn't put stake pockets in the bed because that's what they're used to using.
