My opinion of Sandy slid down a few points after that rant. It was a bit weird.
PayPal, Tesla, starlink, space X, neuro link, Boring Co, and anything else?
Sandy? Hard not to be a fanboy. It’s like not being a fanboy of MJ

Sandy sounded completely bonkers when he was rattling off Elon's supposed contributions to "new" technology/ engineering as a lame defense. It was the same list of fake accomplishments we heard here from CT cult bros after it was launched.
PayPal, Tesla, Starlink, Space X, Boring CO, NeuroLink, I am sure I am missing some..
Fake accomplishments ?

If you watched the video you know very well those are not the things Sandy referred to. However, since you brought it up:

Boring Company = drilling useless tunnels under Las Vegas that Teslas can drive through at slow speeds. :CWL:

Neuralink = unproven technology and animal abuse during development. Also Musk was not the first to do this.

PayPal = Musk didn’t invent online payments.

Starlink = space litter. Musk didn’t invent satellite networking.

Space X = Postmates for NASA. Hasn’t actually invented much of anything.

Tesla = agree it was a great accomplishment - that he is now running into the ground.

Takeaway: Despite Musk’s constant whining about government he certainly collects plenty of government money, doesn’t he? Maybe the government should cut him loose and see how he does without that corporate welfare….

SpaceX did pioneer reusable rockets. But to give all (or any) credit to Musk for it is ludicrous. He's merely the front man and figurehead. He isn't in the trenches with the engineers and scientists inventing and problem solving with complex calculations. It's the people who did the actual work who made things work, at all of his companies. Some of whom he fired on a whim. They didn't make his businesses work by taking ketamine, smoke weed in interviews and making wild controversial tweets/rants at odd hours. He isn't a god or a messiah. He's just another mortal human being who's been enabled by people who are prone to idol worship and are more susceptible to group think. Human history is full of examples.

Speaking of Musk's companies accepting govt. money... SpaceX obviously gets a lot on a regular basis. Starlink has also gotten some from DoD, to aid Ukraine. Tesla was said to receive multiple millions for expanding and opening the Supercharger network. Curious what's to come of that.

Space X improved on existing designs, which is always a good thing, but ultimately it’s an upgraded space shuttle. SpaceX did not invent reusable orbital spacecraft.

You seriously aren't impressed with what starlink and spacex have done?

The real question is would those things exist or have happened without him? Same question for Steve Jobs and Apple.

Steve had issues, but he's not remotely the same clown as Musk.

Steve was much more of a visionary IMO.

Truth from within any of those companies likely show he got in the way and misdirected more often than facilitated solutions.

Impressed? Yes. Did they invent something new? No.

It’s also important to remember that Space X was paid by NASA (via contracts) to develop these rockets. Musk did not just go off on his own out of the goodness of his heart to make them. And they are paid very well each time they are used - as they should be.

More layoffs this week. It's starting to get tiring coming every week wondering who's going to be next. Whoever said deep cuts like this only inspire people to work harder, never worked in an environment where cuts are basically random and not based on personal achievement. I don't think anybody is going home not worried that they could be next or thinking about what other, more stable jobs are available.

I’ve been expecting to be laid off for three years going. So much so I wasn’t even sure I could go through with delivery of my T. The job market in advertising is bleak. Those among first of four rounds are still not fully employed. I listened and watched financial news on how strong the economy is and repeatedly wondered what parallel universe those reports are based on.

Clients and managers are all mixing “AI” into their word salad. Yet, don’t know what they are talking about or know what to do with it.
