Does the shield appear to be rigid? Does it flex?

Close, it's an environmental feature called Rodent Underbody Shield. Protects the critters from shocking themselves with 400v.Loving this thread. Missed what RUS stood for. Im getting the definition via context clues; but my brain keeps trying to say Rodents of Unusual Size.
Oh... I thought it was 400V that shields the Rivian from chewing critters. ?Close, it's an environmental feature called Rodent Underbody Shield. Protects the critters from shocking themselves with 400v.

I suspect it would be covered, but there may be a better way I just found out about.id be shocked if this doesnt void the warranty
I have asked several times and this is the first time I have heard that they are willing to install RUS after the fact. Please keep us posted so that we can request the same procedure.I suspect it would be covered, but there may be a better way I just found out about.
Thanks to this thread and my upcoming purchase of a 2022 R1T from the demo shop—in my nearly ideal spec, minus RUS (FG/FE/20" Darks)—I have learned something from my delivery coordinator that I have heard nothing about and read nowhere on this forum or anywhere else online: apparently, I can have RUS added at the SC after I take delivery!
I asked on Friday about an RUS retrofit after recently seeing from this thread that it was technically possible (even looks simple and straightforward), fully expecting the answer to be a "sorry... we can't do that at this time" response, but I was pleasantly surprised to find that apparently it can be done. Prior to reading this thread, I have tried to ask multiple Rivian salespeople to tell me exactly what RUS includes. I've always gotten vague answers, and there seems to be a lot of speculation about it online (often including the idea that it's bonded to the pack and, therefore, only something that can be specced at time of purchase). I think some of the Rivian sales team members think this, too.
I am waiting on a quote to have this added, which would be amazing. The Delivery & Mobile Operations team member sounded confident that this can (and has?) been done, and if she's right, I will likely get it done at the SC (as long as it's in line with the price of the option from factory). This even shocked my Guide, who later confirmed that it is possible. I'm currently waiting on a quote since I got double confirmation yesterday that it is possible.
I'm surprised Rivian isn't marketing this option. This seems like it would be a popular upgrade for all the people who ended up with shop or used vehicles that didn't have it but met all other criteria since it seemed so randomly paired, especially on early builds (I recall often seeing 20" builds without it, and 21"/22" builds with it on several shop vehicles I considered but ultimately passed up—which never made much sense to me), and would seem like something they could upsell people on who are bringing their trucks in for Gen 2 Tonneau replacements.
I have an appointment to get the job done next week. Nobody has quite been able to explain what they will/won’t be able to install, but it sounds like at least the metal and carbon underbelly—some say it won’t have some bonded component between that and the battery itself that factory RUS has. Almost everyone along the way at Rivian has been a bit stumped by the approval I got to have the work done, but last week they quoted me $1715.45 for the work, and sent me a confirmation for the appointment.I have asked several times and this is the first time I have heard that they are willing to install RUS after the fact. Yesterday someone at Chelsea called and offered to do my underbody shield install next week because my father’s truck is down there getting his Tonneau and brake pads replaced, and he has a loaner up here—so they figured they could bring his up and my truck down while I keep the loaner (Chelsea SC has been awesome so far!). If all goes to plan now, I should have a service center retrofit RUS by next week ??
It kind of feels like I’m the first customer to have this retrofit done, but I’ve told everyone along the way that if offered, I’m sure many others who ended up with non-RUS specc’d trucks would jump at this. Hopefully they will offer this to others who ask moving forward!
