Rivian Tax Credit Email

Just received the email posted below from Rivian. I've already amended my 2022 taxes and received the $7,500. I'm assuming I ignore this? The part that caught my attention is "Rivian is required to report the sale". Wouldn't that have already been done since I received my refund already?

Anyone used turbotax, and trying to e-file now to amend 2022 tax return? It doesn't seem to accept a signature date of 2024..? Has anyone opted by filing through mail? How long did it take to get the status and refund?

This is something you need to ask TurboTax about.

Info at IRS.gov says 16 weeks. But snail mailed returns can take longer.

I am about to confirm my order. If I add the upgraded wheel, my order will go above 80,000. I have a binding contract with Rivian and I plan to amend my 2022 tax return.
Should I keep it below 80K to get the rebate or it does not matter? Thanks for your time.

I'm in the same place waiting since Aug. According to IRS mine has yet to be processed. Have you checked yours?

I did. Was told very little other than the IRS is backlogged.

1040X is the amendment. Form 8936 is the EV supplemental to document the reason you are amending. TurboTax did not ask for copy of binding contract. IRS did not ask for it. You do want to be able to produce it if you get audited.

I am in the process of doing this but when it asks the year model, the latest year is only at 2023 and no option for 2024 model year. I wonder ifTurbotax online includes the year 2024 as an option.

2023 R1S delivered 12/21/2023, amended 2022 tax return via TurboTax and mailed form on 1/25/2024 (no electronic option available). Received refund check on 4/22/2024, 7500.00 + 577.93 in interest. Received sooner than expected.
