I love playing the 'appeal to authority card.' Let's play. My father-in-law was a DA in his life and one of the bits of advice he gave us was "never trust an attorney willing to give a definitive answer without precedence."

So, where's the court case that was ruled in favor of the party who used the 3rd party adapter against protocol and caused a catastrophic failure? I, personally, have no idea--so you could just make something up here too. But you should also probably do that thing all other lawyers do where they start out:
'I am a lawyer, BUT I'M NOT YOUR LAWYER, and THIS IS NOT LEGAL ADVICE' :CWL:

Otherwise, I bet everyone here would like your practice contact information for if/when they have such a case, then they can call you. Think of all the prospective business!! What have you to lose?!
Are you ok? Seriously.

So what you are saying is the earlier you bought the truck....the later you should be to get the adapter? So if you were first to buy one....you should be last to get an adapter?
I know it sounds unfair if you put it that way. So may be:

1. new owners
2. Whoever has driven the most, as of Feb ‘ 24 - no of miles driven/ months of ownership. This way whomever has the most need gets it.

It may be just go by earlier to the latest, as of Feb ‘24 to keep it simple; but still prioritize the new owners.

Yeah but what's your batting average?
Good. Only lost one case on liability grounds but it was worth taking to trial anyway based on the amount of damages. Had one case dismissed because we could never locate the defendant for service. Never lost a motion for summary judgment. Every other case has resulted in settlements or verdicts in excess of my clients' damages. All verdict amounts have exceeded offers of settlement.

Why are you defending yourself? You're on a semi-anonymous platform of enthusiasts who are just waiting on the stock to return to our individual break even (or the R2 whichever comes...) ?.

I'm going to guess you really are an attorney if you're "nothing else better to do" arguing ?

I think the app filters are flakey. When I first tried it I got the same results as you. I was actually looking SF to LA which I’ve done more than SF to Seattle. Then I fiddled and it showed me most of the superchargers. For example the one in Kettleman city. The initial list looked like just the magic docks (e.g. it had Scott’s Valley).
Time will tell, but I can’t imagine them having 15,000 chargers but some how skipping west coast and New England.
Seems like the Rivian app is still adding chargers. I just use Tesla's site to see which ones are actually open.

I did a couple test navigations and the Rivian app routes to Tesla chargers that don’t appear in general search. So I think the network is likely more effective than might initial appear. ?

It’s funny that you are talking in terms of “weeks”. It’s more likely going to be months before the majority of current owners receive adapters… I would be surprised if everyone has them before 2025 after the manual tonneau fiasco
Pardon OB1, but I am new to the Rivian Universe, and still learning its ways and element of time. However, this one should be easy to speed up the typical Rivian time continuium since the adapter is likely made by a third party, already under production and even warehoused, and shipped by a Fullfillment service. I would think the limit is production capacity and time to the fulfillment center, which should be 10,000-20,000+ units/month. But yes, even with my optimistic assessment, that may still be up to 8 months for those of us with recent deliveries. I'm making your case--Are you an A2Z or Lectron plant?

I just know this is going to be an effing popular opinion!! ?

I think Rivian should charge us for these adapters and think it’s stupid of Rivian to absorb the cost at this stage of their business evolution. Am I mistaken in my understanding that they are going to ship them free?

Tell that to ford owners who will be waiting until next year for theirs if they order one now.

I live in an area with lots of charging choices and won't get into trouble with Tesla SC so, I'm not in any particular rush. For me, it's more of a nice to have rather than a have to have. I would be absolutely ok, if it were up to me, for those that live in an area that depends on Tesla SCs to get the adapters before me.
