"You can now charge at certain Tesla Superchargers with an adapter! oh by the way, you can't get the adapter yet."

Thanks Rivian

I bought our Rivian from a private party. Probably not going to receive an adapter.

I’ll just snag one from A2Z. ?

You'll be able to buy one from the gear shop.

Oh? A Rivian one would be cool. Curious what shipping times will be like for that one. I charge at home with a big boy charger so. I’d like one just to throw in the frunk though.

yeah, its probably going to be a while. I'm going to guess the adapters in the gear shop will be last in line.

The adapter in the line drawing appears to be the same as the one supplied to Ford by Tesla. Does anybody have better insights on this?

It is, some twitter celebrity got an adapter to test out their rivian and the adapter has the exact same part number as the ford one.

You could buy one from A2Z or Lectron if you're impatient. They are about $200
I don't know that I'd be recommending aftermarket adapters. Rivian (AND Tesla) have pretty staunch stances on this:

Lectron and A2Z are both looking to get official certification and i think they will get it...with the supply chain issues, i bet rivian will rather just certify the 3rd party ones instead of dealing with angry customers waiting 12 months for the official one

Sure. I understand that.

I'm just sort of *recommending* that *maybe* until they're officially supported, we don't go recommending them half cocked.

This is, afterall, how you ruin a good thing for others. It'll take ONE (count em' ONE) fire from a 3rd party adapter for them to consider shutting this whole thing down for everyone (under the guise of 'safety investigations' and 'liability'). Then EVERYONE will be crying because no one wants to follow the rules.

Just my .02. I'm just a rando on the internet, though. I'm not your mother. Do what you want (you're going to anyway). Carry on...

For A2Z, if you put the word Rivian in the discount code, you'll get 10% off! Sounds like they plan to ship within 15-20 days from order date.
