Lol at whoever thought the back seats would be suitable for passengers.

The back seats here are no different from what you get in the rear of the 911.

Unusable.

Following with this, my issue with the R2 from the various videos I have seen is that the seats are not placed ergonomically. The R2 seats are shallow to mimic bigger legroom, and are low to the ground to mimic bigger headroom. Everyone who has been shown sitting in the R2 in both the front and rear seats have their knees bent upwards.

I'll stick to the R1.

Love the colors on Rivians. They did something to make it extra special I dunno what it is.

Maybe but it's not abnormal for 7 seaters to have cramped 2nd and 3rd rows while smaller 5 seaters can have really spacious 2nd rows. Think R1S (smallish 2nd row) vs Model Y (generous 2nd row)

I'll reserve judgement until we have real measurements and i get to sit in it myself :D

Most of the time that back row is likely empty, and if they’re young kids, so what.
Two words...car seats...if you need rear facing car seats to fit behind driver, it really narrows down your car choices. I barely find the R1 to be comfortable with rear facing car seats either.

Yep, I hear you. I went through that problem. The more difficult issue for us was getting our baby in that car seat without rear doors. Once we made it to booster seats, life was easier until early teens for the most part. We had friends whose 5th grader finished the school year at 6’2.” The one time he was in the Mini, he rode in front.

I’m going to take a leap here and say that given how much larger the R3 is than a MINI, I expect rear facing child seats would work and are in fact a design criteria for the design team. I’d put money on it.

All of this is speculation though without more information from Rivian.

I hope this little window is super strong...

You've pointed out the favorite exploit of OG smash-and-grab thieves. Back in the old days when these small windows were common on cars, thieves would target these to smash or pry on, to gain access to the interior door latch. It's a smaller size, rigid with little give. Easy to shatter. Looking at the door shape though, I don't see how else Rivian could have designed it. But, hey, that's what mandatory insurance is for right? /s

I wish even with the R1S, that the front wheels would be pushed a bit further up to free up cabin space. The cabin I use everyday, but the frunk every once in a while. I think the comment on the R3 in the review is the same. The magic of the Ioniq 5 is that the wheels are pushed to the edges, even though it's only 180 inches, it's "cavernous" inside. I can sit super comfortably with plenty of room behind myself and I'm 6'1.
