New Rivian Waypoints Chargers at Wawona in Yosemite

We’re staying in Yosemite this week and while checking out charger locations noticed Rivian had added a few additional Waypoints chargers in Yosemite Valley. When we drive by Wawona, we noticed some new chargers that still had the covers on them so stopped to snap a couple pictures. It looks like this will be 24 new chargers, there are 12 posts and each looks to have 2 chargers on them. As of today, these aren’t yet showing on Rivian’s map of chargers and locations coming soon so there’s no telling when they’ll be commissioned.

Those, and the 20 or so up in West Curry Village have been "ready" but covered and unpowered for months now. Pretty discouraging to see a ton of otherwise perfect chargers that can't be used yet.

Considering how opening these two "coming soon" sites would more than triple the number of chargers available in the park, you think they'd be eager to do so ?

I’m surprised that they are not operational yet. I saw them installed 4th of July weekend.

We up in Yosemite in Janurary, never saw these and they didn't show up on map. However the Ahwahnee has Rivian chargers but only available if the valet park for $30. I think there was another down at village but it was always occupied by park service vehicles. Hope they open these soon.

When I was there for 4th of July, active waypoint chargers were available at the lodge, Village store, and Awahnee (valet only). New ones were installed and powered on, but not programmed to work at the Village store. Lots of new ones were installed, but not powered on at Curry Village. It’s been 7 months since I was there. What is taking so long to get these active?

Waypoints are free for everyone. Most of them were taken by Teslas (with adapters) while I was there.

I took this picture today of the backend infrastructure with what looks like a pretty new fence around it.

I also talked to someone who lives here year round and he said they just put this stuff in not that long ago. He suspects the holdup is getting PG&E out to run the main connection from the power lines because it’s been months of waiting around here to get them to do anything.
