Can we talk about Rivian Swag in the Gear Shop?

I would love to rock some Rivian gear, but I'm disappointed in the swag that's out there. The Rivian Stories tee was way better than anything I've seen from Rivian themselves. Why is that fancy new hoodie $150? I wish they would do better.

This is $150 with a tiny logo most people don't even recognize. Not even sure if there's anything on the back.

I would like to see American made products.

Nearly all of it is overpriced. But if you understand the brand and look at price of the R1, then it's clear why merch has premium pricing. As for logo size, you also need to understand branding. It isn't about shouting "Rivian!" or domination over nature or anything. Hence, the understated logo size. If you want to be loud, I'm sure there are plenty of unofficial vendors on eBay and Etsy who are all too happy to take your money.

Rivian misses some opportunities here. I know a handful of people have gotten cool swag bags from their guides, but I suspect most did not. I didn’t. I would have rocked a free t-shirt, hoodie, hat, whoever since I put my 2019 reservation down, and I’ll bet it would have started a lot of conversations (with a raving fan on my side). As it turned out, most of the people I see regularly had no idea about my reservation until my Rivian showed up, and therefore managed to skirt my fan-boying. I cannot imagine the margin Rivian is making on a few t-shirts is worth more than the word-of-mouth marketing they’d get by giving those same shirts out for fee with an ordered (or delivered) truck.

Hi. I am Solas, and I am a Gear Shop user. I am trying to quit.
Here's the review so far:
- It's overpriced. But, see: I am a gear shop user
- Kid's hats: awesome
- Kid's shirts: awesome
- Third party brand items (e.g. snow peak): not bad if that's what you really want to spend $$ on
- Gear tunnel duffle bag: overpriced, yes. Nice (attention to detail).
- Rivian packing cube: WTF. I mean, What-the-actual-F. AARP gives these out for FREE if you join them, I mean, WTF!@@@@@@

I have a green logo hoodie I snagged a few years back for like $85? Honestly, i'd rather just go buy another American Giant hoodie and get a Rivian logo printed on it..

I hear what you’re saying. I understand branding. Rivian is a new company that most people don’t even know about. This is just my opinion, but I don’t think they have anywhere near enough brand recognition to roll with the compass logo alone and expect very many people to make the connection. What‘s the point in overpriced merch, if not advertising and brand recognition. I bet they would sell a lot more and accomplish that goal much more efficiently if they went a little less pretentious and more mainstream.

I would just add that most of the clothing is mostly out of stock. I have gone to buy a couple of items (I actually really like the flannel shirt with just the logo) but I find they are out of stock in most size categories. And I would Ecco @ColoradoRivian ... given all the swag they have at the Rivian shop here in Atlanta, I expected something, shirt, mug, something to be given when I picked up my R1S... as BMW or Audi would do... but nothing. Just seemed odd.

Exactly. I paid full price on an R1S QM in December. and at pickup we talked about the touchup pens because I was getting compass yellow, and the shop was out at the time. They found one, but instead of giving me the $40 item (with the $100K car), they got out the credit card reader. I love Rivian, I'm a shareholder (too much of it right now...), but it did feel a bit chintzy.
