Is the lease inventory suppose to be nationwide or just local?

I've been looking at lease inventory near daily for several weeks as I wait for a bonus to come thru before I get one and I noticed the selection drastically changed around Dec 23rd/24th.

From what I can tell, it seems like it originally searched all available nationwide until about the 23rd/24th then it was changed to only search locally. Because a lot of my top choices all disappeared that day. But further more, then I googled the 10 nearest service centers (up to about 6hrs away) and used their zip codes in the search and sure enough they brought up different vehicles than my local zip code did.

I guess I was under the impression that the leasing was existing inventory nationwide and they’d ship the one you want to your local service center for pick up. Is that no longer the case? Or was it never?

As it is right now the one I’d want the most is only available at one service center in LA but I live in PHX. I don't know if I could put in that zip code when I start the process online and pick that one and go fly/drive and pick it up myself in LA (or they ship it to me) or if I can only choose one from the PHX service center (which don’t even have my top 5 choices/combos). Never bought/leased a Rivian yet so not sure how that process would work if I put in a CA zip to select a vehicle, then want to register it in AZ.

Not sure if there’s anyone at Rivian I can talk to about this when the time comes to get one.

Thanks

Edit: I searched this evening and now there are a lot more vehicles available in my zip code again, including several with discontinued options (like Bright 20" and yellow exterior), so they've definitely been changing something with the search radius the last couple of weeks. While my "perfect" combo isn't available in my zip yet, there are a lot more options I could Ive with if I started the process today. But I probably have another 2-4 weeks before I can.

Too expensive to ship a vehicle that's already at a specific service center, but Rivian might have been willing to do it for an end of the year delivery to hit their expectations.

I thought maybe that’s why the lease program also recently changed from “1-2 weeks” to “1-4 weeks” too maybe allow them to wait till they’ve have a few to ship to same place.

I wonder though if they’d let me get one that’s in CA (I’d go pick it up there and drive it home) even though I’m going to register it in AZ and it’ll live in AZ.

A couple YouTubers got R1T recently. Pretty sure both were leases. Leases make them more affordable payment wise so I'm betting quite a few folks grabbed one.
I looked again this evening and the changed something with the search again. Because since the 23rd till this morning there were no 20" Bright wheels available in my zip code, which I know they discontinued those. But searching this evening now there are several available with those wheels again.

My "perfect" combo isn't available in my zip code, but definitely more options I could live with if I started the process today.
