I don't think those sticky Michelin Pilot Sport tires are going to last long on there. Probably also lower range a bit I assume.

I dont understand the rack and then the box. Makes zero sense to me. Just adds more surface area to catch air. Bad in a headwind, good in a tailwind I suppose.

I like the rest. I wouldn't do it for my vehicle but looks good.

Not sure that I like Maybach-ish wheels on the R1S.

They look pretty aerodynamic. The rubber will have horrible rolling resistance I am sure, so overall bad range. Still, I wonder how the wheels would do with low rolling resistance tires. I bet a 20" version with low RR tires would beat the stock 21s in efficiency.

Anyway, I think the thing I'm most surprised about is how much I dislike the painted lower body trim.
I actually like it a lot. Makes me wonder how they did it since it is pretty rough plastic.

I've always been a "painted panels" type of person on all my vehicles. I don't mind it in the Rivian since it makes it look tougher, but if I had a choice, I'd go with body color matched.

Agree, I was confused about that. Also that much harder to reach

I thought the point of SEMA is to show off products to others in the automotive industry. With that in mind, and limited platforms (one R1S I suspect is all Turn14 has there) they probably put together combinations that may not always make sense (like a rack and a box) but at least get their product ideas out there.
