That could well be true, but let's say that it is accurate. That final price is about what I would have expected. Hopefilly, it will perform well. I am anxious to see how it does in real world tests. I am very satisfied with Opal (our R1T) and not planning to replace her with a Cyber Truck any time soon.

Having owned a DeLorean for 31 years, a stainless steel outer body is NOT a good Idea. Maintenance of the stainless is quite time consuming.

I'm waiting to see how many CT owners will try cleaning their truck with regular steel wool. ?

It will be quickly evident who does that.

Tesla has been on an aggressive pricing path for the last 10 months, so pricing the CT this high looks like a strategy reversal.

We'll have to wait a few more weeks to find out.

"Elon is just playing 4D chess". The earliest adopters are going to have their wallets open. People who can't afford the high price, but still want one, will put themselves back in line hoping the pricing will come down like they have done on all their other models.

I have a feeling people who spend this much on a truck will get it wrapped, either in matte/clear or another color. Already spent $9K to wrap and tint my Rivian.

Do you really think this version of the CT will get over 400 miles of range to be equivalent to the R1T Dual Max? I think not. As has been said here, I think that is the "350 mile" pack, which means real world of a little under 300 based on Tesla's history.
As I type this, the Tesla cybertruck page is still advertising 500 mi of range, 3500lb of cargo, and 0-60 of 2.9 seconds. https://www.tesla.com/cybertruck

I really think it is premature to assume that the top trim Cybertuck will not have a leg up on Rivian in all of the objective stats. I am not saying that it couldn't be the case that Tesla ends up falling short of the specs they are still advertising, but the only people who actually know the specs haven't changed their story.

Until someone who has actually tested the production spec vehicle provides different stats, the only objective thing you can do is use the numbers Tesla has published.

After seeing the CT at the Petersen auto museum, I wondered the same thing. The finish, like it or not, looked inconsistent in color and sheen. This from a place that has a whole staff of people that maintain the finish on the vehicles. It made me wonder how many wraps we'll be seeing.

Right, because Tesla as never advertised capabilities or pricing well outside of what was actually delivered.....not even once! Underpromise and overdeliver might as well be Tesla's motto!

As a stainless steel finish actually has texture, I'm not sure how good a wrap would look or adhere.

I'd rather get 270 miles with a good charging curve and a reliable charging network. Who knows when in 2024 we'll get access to super chargers.
But you WILL get access in 2024. So why be okay with 270 miles?

Does it also say it still can pull "near infinite mass"?

That $99,000 "starting price" is the price for the top motor/trim level. The top motor/trim for the R1T "starts at" $94,000. Paying 6% more to get a vehicle from an established brand with way better software and charging infrastructure that doesn't suck is pretty dang reasonable.

If the specs end up similar to Rivan's Dual Motor Performance Max pack and I didn't mind the appearance, there is no chance the price difference would push me toward Rivian.

I personally don't like the way the cybertruck looks, but the reservation count seems to imply that I may be in the minority on that.
The top motor/trim for the R1T "starts at" $87k NOT $93k.

If you are looking at the competition's highest EV Truck tiers:

Rivian: 87-90k
Ford: 90-95k
Chevy: 100-110k (est)
Dodge: EST >100k

Expecting Tesla to launch a brand new platform with tons of new proccesses and investments that are different than every one of their other lines for under 80k is insane. In fact, as a stockholder, you would be asking why? They could plant their top tier in the 90-100k range and improve profitability
