I just got my R1S about one week ago. Mine is clearly with the in house sound system. I heard a laugh edition in a R1T a while back that I thought sounded a lot better than mine but I can say for sure. So, I was wondering if any one did a side by side comparison of the Meridian system that was on th e launch edition and the current system but I could not find anything.

Does anyone have any information on this?

I prefer the Meridian system. The in-house system has a little too much bass and mid that I don't like so I had to do a lot of EQ adjustments.

I don't have the S but I am on my second R1T. First was very low vin, second is 24k vin. The in house one is far far better than meridian imo. But I like my music to have a punch. Which really was all the meridian was lacking imo.

If you search around you can find some good equalizer settings. The best way to do that might be different on the S than it is in the T. Not sure.

There are a few people here with both, but so far no true head to head comparison.

At this point, I think the comparisons are just wild. I've heard everything from the new system is the worst ever, to it's far better.

Sound is so subjective.

If I could summarize who would like which best, I think it would come down to what a person usually does with their vehicle equalizer settings. If you’re the kind of person who maxes out the high, mid and low sliders, the Rivian system is probably for you. On the other hand, if you like to keep things more neutral, the Meridian system is perfect for you.

This summarizes them well.

I’ve had both in the R1S. The Meridian is much more neutral with all of its frequencies being output by all of the speakers. It lacks reinforcement from the subwoofer in the majority of the volume range unless you’re up high. But does not have directionality issues (you can’t tell where the bass is coming from) sound stage overall is better.

The Rivian sound puts less bass on the full range speakers and dedicates the entirety of the bass on the subwoofer and is very pronounced. Gives you more of the Rock common equalizer setting. It definitely has directionality issues, specially when higher low end frequencies are sought out for, you can definitely pin point them being handled by the subwoofer (decently enough) but not as good as the Meridian.

In each case, they’re both ok. I wouldn’t say one is better than the other. I like the Meridian more as it suits my taste more, however, my wife likes the Rivian sound more.

So the Meridian door woofers produce more bass than the Rivian branded woofers?

I will repeat, anyone who thinks their sound is BAD, do an infotainment reset (outermost buttons on steering wheel at the same time). Listen to Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here before and after. If there is an improvement, you will hear it immediately.
I find that often, after software updates, there is an issue with sound.
