Picked up an R1T on 12/17/2022

Just picked up my R1T. Drives amazing but I came across two manufacturing/design issues and I am wondering if anyone else has seen them.

1. The right side interior front pillar (where a speaker is housed) is loose and came apart after driving 15 minutes and I cannot securely snap it back in

2. There is a whistling noise inside the cabin once I go above 60-65MPH.

Has anyone else heard the whistling noise or any manufacturing/assembly quality issues?

I have not had any issues though I have heard that others have had wind noise but that the service center was able to correct it. but for me no quality issues at all

Whistling can be wind noise. Check the triangular fixed glass on your front two windows.

Seriously?

Search the forum for the checklists that have been created for items to check at delivery.

Yep...known intitial quality item. Factory was making this error likely from truck 1 to now over truck 15k or whatever it is.

Rivian is doing an excellent job for a brand new auto manufacturer. Even Japanese companies that are known for decades of quality products are having issues.

Motor Trend recently tested a Toyota Tundra TRD Pro hybrid and found quality issues;

Most troubling, though, were multiple quality issues. One editor managed to overheat the transmission, an issue that didn't crop up in any of the other six trucks we ran through the same course. The articulation test elicited concerning metallic clunks and scraping sounds from the undercarriage. Some online digging found forum members who blame the problem on a skidplate that rubs against the frame.

Three of four doors sounded normal, but the rear driver's side door closure emitted a noise features editor Scott Evans likened to "an old metal garden shed" and head of editorial Ed Loh called a "hollow, cheap, sheetmetal-flexing ka-thunk." No other Tundra we've driven has this issue; perhaps our TRD Pro missed out on some internal sound deadening or similar mitigation at the factory. Other staffers mentioned inconsistent panel gaps, mediocre interior quality, squeaky rear seats, a shaking tailgate, and frequent infotainment system crashes.

We reached out to Toyota regarding the quality issues. The company has yet to address all of the problems—the door and underbody noises among them—but admits "customers may have faced [infotainment] issues on early models." It also stated it has made various unspecified improvements and enhancements. We will update this story with more information as it's provided to us.”

I have the 2 exact same issues also outside of couple of other items such as slight leaning to the right side, some trim issues.

I picked up 11/18/2022.

nice to know at least I was not the only person.

So finally, after spending three days back and forth with the service center and my guide, they have given me Feb. 9, 2023 as the earliest date they can take the truck in to address the issues. I would not have minded the wind noise but the trim on the pillar is hanging loose, and it is an eye sore - especially after paying a pretty penny.

I would have expected better service support to address the issue that happened the very same day I picked up the truck. Very disappointing.

Did you try fixing the pillar trim? They are usually just a simple friction fit or have friction push pins that hold them in place.

At first, it seemed like an easy fix but I tried to put it back in place multiple ways to no avail.

I hear no rattling noise and no wires seen from the front. But there is a whistling noise in the cabin above 50-55mph.
