Hi, My delivery is scheduled tomorrow. I’ve read the numerous checklists and comments… But could someone describe what happens at this delivery appointment between them driving up, me screaming and getting the truck?

Are you getting guided delivery? I had guided delivery and here's how it went:
  1. R1T was on a flat bed tow truck that stopped down the street.
  2. Driver (just one) unloaded the R1T and drove it to my house and into my driveway.
  3. Did a walk around of the car, opened doors, tailgate, talked about features, etc.
  4. Was handed key fob and access cards.
  5. Sat inside and completed the last few forms.
  6. Accepted delivery in the car, through the main screen (they may tell you to take a picture of this because the welcome screen won't show again).
  7. Set up phone as a key.
  8. Driver then went over all of the interior features with me.
  9. Went on a short drive around my neighborhood.
  10. Arrived back at my house.
  11. Driver wrapped up, headed back to the tow truck, and left.
I didn't need much guiding because I'd already covered so much info through YouTube, Reddit, and this forum, but it was still nice to have.

Yep, getting a guided delivery. This is just what I needed. Thanks!

If my experience is indicative, your delivery experience is whatever you want it to be. You have to accept delivery on your phone via the Rivian app and hand over your paperwork if doing a trade-in, but otherwise the delivery people will accommodate whatever you want to use the time for. You can ask them to walk you through everything, go on a drive, ask questions, etc. There's nothing you/they have to do, so the experience varies based on your existing exposure to the vehicle and what you need/want.

I had already done a first mile event and was super familiar with the ins and outs of the car, so I did a basic skim of the vehicle (honestly, despite people here occasionally complaining about things like panel gaps, I was too excited to even consider rejecting delivery for practically anything, especially with the 7-day return policy, so I didnt really do a very thorough examination), and then drove around with one of the guys while asking questions about the state of things (deliveries, servicing, etc).

The delivery people also explicitly said that the experience is whatever you want, and they've had people accept delivery and be on their way in minutes, and others that didn't know anything about the vehicles and wanted to really be guided/taught everything.

I wasn't even aware they were doing deliveries anymore, I wasn't given the option.
