Rivian R1T R1S R1T vs R1S speakers & audio systems compared (from Meridian site) Screen Shot 2022-08-20 at 5.47.57 PM

Hopefully this isn't a repeat post.. I was looking through the Meridian listed specs for the R1T vs R1S speakers; these images are from meridians website.

Found it interesting watts on the R1T listed as 1200 with 19 speakers, but 1100 for 22 speakers with the R1S. Also interesting when reading the description on the left it states `19 speakers for the R1T, but lists 18 speakers in the diagram. Similarly for the R1S the description reads 22 speakers but lists 20 speakers in the diagram on the right.

Shouldn't care if it all sounds good, but thought this was all kind of interesting. Also I have only been able to demo the R1T audio system, has anyone had a chance to demo the R1S audio system at the Venice Hub to compare them?

The center channel is a 2-way speaker, so maybe they're counting those as two speakers. In the R1S, the 3rd row speakers are also 2-ways, but that would add up to 23 speakers, so who knows??

Yea every way I counted it.. it kind of didnt work, maybe its a typo again weird its listed one way in the description and another in the actual listing of the speakers. Wonder if the reason the watts are listed lower on the R1S is because maybe the shrunk the sub due to spacing in the rear, so less output? but then there are the additional speakers in the third row.. a little wonky.

Perhaps the system is made up of additional speakers but for non-music related purposes. Interesting since it doesn't look like a simple mistake based on how both diagrams are alike.

Agreed, it looks very well thought out / thorough, and I had a hard time believing Meridian would list this for this long without catching a mistake. Maybe they're including the exterior speakers that make the mandatory slow speed EV noise.

Regarding the wattage, since the number of speakers is different, it’s possible and even likely that the impedance (ohms) seen by the amplifier is different. If so, the amplifier output wattage will be different. But you would not be able to tell the difference by ear between 1100 and 1200 watts.

99% of people wouldn't notice it if you went into their EQ and killed all the frequencies below 100hz anyways.

Interesting to see RE-Q. I’m supposing this is the car equivalent to room eq like what Audyssey or Dirac does or for that matter what you could do with REW, MiniDSP and a calibrated mic like umik.
Will be interesting to run a few tests to check frequency response in the drivers seat and some of the other commonly occupied seats.

Adding to my previous post, wondering what “Tonally balanced audio at all volume levels” could mean.
perhaps something equivalent to Audyssey Dynamic EQ as in increased bass boost at lower volumes and then ease off the base at higher volumes.
Again, not something that cannot be tested with REW and a mic.
Any R1T/S owner who is familiar with REW software and has the equipment willing to carry out a few tests?

This is not difficult to do. All one needs is a good mike such as the ones you mention. There is free software out there and some really good tutorials on the web. But I'd have thought that Meridian would have done this. To me, the bigger question is the absence thus far of hi-res music sources and lack of support for USB based inputs.
