Did anyone on west coat receive their r1t by train and could share the timeline ? My guide said the time could be up to 8 weeks, and he can’t give any update once the truck is loaded on the train.
Not yet but it’s 0-2 weeks for train transport and then 0-2 weeks depending on what needs to be done at the SC for delivery, according to my guide. And just to maintain sanity add 0-2 weeks for gremlins.

From my experience 8 weeks seems about right for rail car delivery to the west coast.

Rail shipping is slow and can get complicated depending on the number rail lines involved. Once the vehicle is in the hands of the railroad Rivian loses all control.

That make sense. I assume battery will be completely drained after this 8 weeks transit unless they have a special transit mode??

I'm jealous of people getting information out of their guides about the status of their trucks. Glad I found this thread, now I know why it's taking so long. All I've been told is it's built and in transit, no eta. Had 8 steps and a vin for 13 days, july 10th. El segundo SC. Vin 8400

That is a good point, I wonder if Rivian has considered that. Once the battery is drained the 12v dies soon after thus bricking the truck. Hopefully the rail line will know how to get a bricked EV off a railcar especially since they cannot get into the truck.

Thats a great question, how do they account for battery drain during long transit times? I would love to know, maybe some one on the forum is an insider.

For grins I contacted Rivian CS and as usual they did not have anything to share regarding battery drain during shipment. They of course did not acknowledge ghost battery drain exists.

My R1T ghost battery drain is about 1-2kW/day or 1-2% for a 24hr period. Gear guard is not activated nor is climate control. Hence, if my R1T were shipped by rail with SOC of 100% and it took 4-6 weeks to get to a SC then it probably will be 'bricked' either in a rail car or at a rail yard.

It may be possible that battery drain increases once the R1 is connected to cellular and or wifi. So until the R1 has an owner assigned, battery drain may be almost non-existent.

I bet we are all on the same train, bunch of CA, and I’m in AZ, deliveries. We all received our 8 steps around 7/8-7/10. The train route for me would be north through Flagstaff, AZ then truck transport to Phoenix.

When my guide told me rail, they estimated delivery at the end of the month.

Was factory delivery an option for those in a hurry to get their hands on the car?

I bet your right, did your guide estimate delivery the end of July or August?

End of July.
Thanks! They really just need to add the pizza tracker to the 8th step. The way trade in values are dropping I'm probably going to sell my tacoma to driveway this Thursday. It expires soon, they offered me 6k more than Rivian.

I just sold my 2017 Escalade to Carmax last week. They gave me $5k more than Rivian offered. Also got $2k more than I paid for it 3 years ago. Crazy.

Do you know when your R1 was loaded on the train in IL? It is possible thot your R1 is in a train headed to AZ. This would be desirable as it would eliminate a possible delay in CA. There are multiple rail companies serving the US.

My Mach-e was sent by rail to Kansas City from Mexico City (certainly not a direct route to SLC)where a different rail line took it to SLC then car carrier to Boise ID. As best I can tell it took several weeks to have the car switched to rail line headed to SLC.

Rail transport is slow and the more rail lines involved the longer it takes.

Ford did provide the date that the car was loaded onto the train. After that it was a black hole until the car showed up 4 months later. I did use PALS app to confirm the actual date of departure and the destination but I am not sure that is still available or applicable.

Data point - selected one of the R1Ts on the pre-configured store, since it was my configuration minus the full size spare (another head scratcher there) - 7/19, Guide says it was in transit next day with estimated delivery to San Diego SC August 5th.... so that's roughly 16 days in transit, hopefully that's an over estimate but we don't eyes on that. Anyone know if the guide does have eyes of the car in transit in terms of tracking like a package?
