Mercury Insurance Deductible surprise

When I added my R1T to my policy I had them use the same coverage options as all our other vehicles. We have a $2500 deductible on everything. Today when we got the bill it was a lot higher than anticipated ($2k/yr) and I noticed the deductible was set to $1000. I called my agent who claimed that Mercury doesn't allow deductibles over $1000 for EVs (Specifically EVs!). Can anyone confirm that this is true? $2k/yr for the R1T alone seems ridiculously high. (Both wife and I have clean driving record and have multi-car and home discounts along with like 4 other discounts applied)

obviously I’m not on that insurance companies but my deductible is $200 for everything but glass, which is zero! Costs $30/year

My 6 month policy with Allstate is $267 for my 2020 Chevy Bolt, $404 for the Rivian R1T, both $250 deductible, and then an additional $123 to increase coverages from standard for more property damage and medical expense.. So $730 (including full payment discount) for both for 6 months.

I don't have my Rivian yet, but with my Tesla Model S, the rate for Mercury Ins was sky high (also in So cal) with $1000 deductibles. I like having $500 col/ $100 comp. I ended up switching to Connect by AmFam (Costco) and my rates were MUCH lower. It's worth getting a quote from them IMHO.
