First mile impression?
Exceeded expectations. Absolutely loved the R1T. The utility and storage are incredible. Interior is really nice. Liked most of the colors I saw in person (Launch Green, El Cap, and Rivian blue - but I did not like Compass Yellow from afar and I have had one orange car and one yellow car in the past). Did not feel like I was driving a truck - felt like a sporty SUV, though not a sports car as some may have reported. It's fast and powerful. I kept pestering them about potentially buying an "orphan" or "mismatched car" - i.e., one built but with a buyer backing out.

I did learn there is some pedal technique to prime the car in order to get the 3.1 second 0-60 time. I can't remember what it was, but the employee who did the test drive mentioned it. The battery has to have a higher state of charge as well.

The employee was great and enthusiastic. He asked how we wanted to spend the time at first and I immediately said, "Can we go off-roading and can I see a camp kitchen?" He quickly said no to both. LOL. But the entire experience was great. My 8/2020 reservation is currently configured for Max pack and Ocean Coast, but if given an opportunity via the R1 Shop to take delivery earlier with Large Pack and Black Mountain, I likely will.

I have heard you press the break, then press the go/gas all the way and then release the break.

Back in the day, that was called "power braking". It worked great to burn rubber out of the high school parking lot....

I initially had El Cap and BM but when i saw El Cap with FE at Venice, i was sold. I never thought this pairing would work, but thy compliment each other very well.
I am thinking of changing to El Cap and Forest Edge, but I sure would like to see it in person first...

Have you seen El Cap with OC? To see if you like it more or less?
I don't think Rivian has built any vehicles with Ocean Coast for customers - yet.

Currently I'm BM/ElCap on order for R1S, but with all of the heat lately, it's got me thinking. That's one step from black on black, which I have now in JGC and opening it is like a pizza oven.

You're post got me thinking should I flip over to FE instead which would be a bit less for hot surfaces. Thoughts?

I live in Virginia.

I have had black interiors....but no more.

PLUS, at least with the R1T, the roof is all glass with NO sunshade. Some owners have noticed their R1Ts get toasty sitting in the sun. Is the R1S a glass panoramic roof? With no sun shade?

FE would be better than BM. I hope they get the Ocean Coast going by the fall, as promised. I would like the Ocean Coast mostly because of the heat factor.
