Kansas City Service Center Update

There are about to be some happy folks in the Midwest!

At least 9 R1Ts came in this morning for delivery. These are the first ones to come in to the service center for customers. I spoke with Chis (the service center manager) for about 30 minutes - heck of a nice guy and definitely reassuring for the brand! He said that most of these R1Ts are going to Arkansas and Oklahoma. None of those that came in this morning are destined for the KC area.

Here are some interesting points I picked up from talking with Chris this morning:

• The service center will have 4 vehicle lifts
• 4 loaner vehicles will be available - 2 Tacomas and 2 Pilots
• 1 mobile service unit right now with hopefully 1 more on the way
• No “open house” event planned for the KC service center
• Yellow and red R1Ts were freshly painted on the factory floor this week (Chris was just back from Normal)

On a related note, Chris was gracious enough to let me sit in a vehicle to try it out for size. I’m 6’6” and have been worried about rear seat legroom for my kids. I can happily report that when I adjusted the front seat to what would be comfortable for me, the back seat still had enough room for me, at 6’6”, to be comfortable. I’m not sure I could ride for hours in the back seat but for my kids it’s more than passible. I’m coming from a F-150 so that’s my comparison. The R1T is obviously smaller (full size v mid size) but it didn’t feel as small as some pictures had led me to believe.

My June/July delivery window cannot get here soon enough!

I was out there a couple of weeks ago but didn't see any trucks. I almost went out there today but its about a 40min drive and was hoping to see a post like this first.
My wife chatted in with Customer Service for the first time yesterday to just touch base. She said our Mar-April window has not changed and we should be contacted by a guide in the coming days.

Will this also be a retail center? Has anyone in the KC area been contacted for a "first mile" (I believe that it what they call it) test drive? I am super-stoked to find out there is a SC so close to me! I'm definitely going to start stalking the parking lot, as I have not yet seen one in the wild.

It will not be a retail center.

No First Mile drives that I know of. I have a very early reservation and live within miles of there and have heard nothing.

Spotted my first R1T in the wild... South Overland Park, Blue Valley Southwest High School. We were running into an event, so I didn't get to ask the female driver about it... But she looked happy ?.

They keep them all inside at night. Chances are iffy on whether any are outside during the day.

I just got mine today. Happy to show it off if you’re in the area. I’m 7 miles from the service center.

Congrats! Wife and I just did a "first drive" there in a blue LE R1T yesterday.

I was told this week that mine will be landing at the SC in the next couple of weeks. Nov ‘19 reservation holder that chose one of the shop configurations a week or so ago. Beyond excited. I live in Lawrence and my guide is also a KU grad.
