Check Your Full Size Spare for the “RIV” stamp

Ran into another R1T owner (& Rivian employee). He mention to confirm that my full size spare has the Pirelli “Riv” stamped on the tire. I guess some are shipped without?

If it doesn't? I have no idea if mine does or not, but in the event that it doesn't, what would that really mean? If the wheel is the same and the tire has the correct specs, what does the stamp reveal? Genuine not being sarcastic.

The RIV denotes that it is the specific compound that was specially crafted by/for Rivian. Without that label, it would indicate that the tire does not, in fact, meet the manufacturer specifications.

As an aside - be careful if you ever do have to lift your spare out and then put it back. I pulled mine out the other day to get the valve stem cover off of it (Rivian lost one at service) and when I was putting the heavy a$$ sucker back, the threaded metal pole that holds it in place scratched the heck out of the wheel.

There is a whole thread on this (pun intended). The instructions show that you need to fully remove the threaded bolt before removing the spare. They even include a tool to do so...

RIV denotes the proprietary compound and applies to all tires (primary and spare) and all three sizes they provide. If no RIV is present, it is a tire that was not specifically engineered for Rivian vehicles and you should ask for a replacement from service since that is what you paid for.

Good point! I eventually replaced that plate once clients figured out what it meant. Oopsie!

That is just speculation at this point. I haven't heard of anyone here actually reporting that they received the wrong tire.
