Not anytime soonhe said they are looking at putting on "homecoming" type events in the future where owners can come out and experience the full factory tour.
I ride adventure type motorcycles(dual sports). People always ask me what the most important tools are to pack. The same tool applies to this........A Credit Card. This is a hard no. Going on that long of a road trip without any experience in that particular EV or route is a recipe for disaster. You haven't had an EV before? That's a triple quadruple no. It's like getting used to swimming by jumping in a shark cage. Work up to it.
Enjoy having your beautiful car dropped off at your doorstep. It'll be lovely.

If you have the time and the right attitude, this can be a trip with lots of great memories. If all goes well then it was a great trip, if not then it was a great ADVENTURE. Remember, "Experience is what you get when you don't get what you want".
All of them, really?FWIW in non-COVID times all car manufacturers will give you a factory tour for free if you email nicely. You don't need to buy a car for that, it's standard practice as good marketing. You'd be surprised how little they actually care if you buy one of their cars, it doesn't really get you any more special treatment than being polite.
Who knows if/when that will resume, however.
ADV bikes (I have an F800GS that replaced a R1200GS) are exactly why I said "that's what credit cards and tow trucks are for" (and a good Spot receiver)I ride adventure type motorcycles(dual sports). How much time were you given to decide?ADV bikes (I have an F800GS that replaced a R1200GS) are exactly why I said "that's what credit cards and tow trucks are for" (and a good Spot receiver)
Forget flying, ride the GS out, put it in the bed for the drive home.ADV bikes (I have an F800GS that replaced a R1200GS) are exactly why I said "that's what credit cards and tow trucks are for" (and a good Spot receiver)
Could even add a Saddle Sore 1000 attempt to gain Iron Butt Association entry.Forget flying, ride the GS out, put it in the bed for the drive home.
Rivian has been accused of many things.... moving too fast is not one of them....I’m contemplating something similar if timing dictates it. Moving from WI to WA. Timing may mean I take delivery before the move. This would increase miles by a bit (no fast charging through the usual route) and add in towing a U-Haul trailer. Kind of hope Rivian isn’t moving quite that fast
Already have it (unofficially as I didn't do the whole verified start w/ receipts nonsense) Santa Barbara to PortlandCould even add a Saddle Sore 1000 attempt to gain Iron Butt Association entry.
