Good morning

My R1T is in for tint / ppf/ etc.. and they told me something I would like to verify... the back and sides of the R1T are tinted already, so they said I would want to put a lighter tint on these than the front two windows so they would look the same. I.E. a 30 on the back and 15 on the front..

They said that since back and sides were already tinted, any more put on top would make it look darker. so if I put 15 all the way around, it would make the back look like limo.

Does that sound correct?

Yep, that's how it works. Trucks typically have factory tint in the rear glass.

Normally, I only tint the front side windows to match the rears (with nothing new needed on rears).

Thanks... I wanted the rears a little darker so was thinking 30 on the back over existing would match 15 on the front.

Wasn't really following the details, but yes just like every car from the factory the rear windows are tinted and the front are not.

15 on the front is quite dark. It can be a bit dangerous in a few circumstances. I wouldn’t go darker than 30 up front, but that’s just me.

This seems like a decent place to ask this question:

I want to use a window tint in the rear to keep the sun out of my child's eyes and to keep him cooler. But I also want him to be able to see out of his window. I'm debating between 20% and 5% ceramic on his windows and the rear window. I've used a 20% tint on a car before and it's not enough to block the glare of the sun-- but, that was on a car that didn't have a factory tint already applied. Does anyone have any experience with a Rivian or otherwise on which I should choose?

Also, has anyone purchased a sunshade for the front windshield of the Rivian that you are happy with?

Thank you!

What type of ppf are you getting? Xpel? my cousin got a quote for $5300 for a full body xpel. does that sound about right? There is a place near me that does Kavaca ppf, not sure if that's similar to Xpel.

That is actually good price at least if you are talking ppf for the body. I think they generally run about 7k for full Xpel Ultimate Plus. I am just getting a full front and ceramic coat over entire car.

Yes, someone quoted me 7500. How much were you quoted for the full front.? Will it cover the headlamps also?

I will have to look at the quote. I am getting full front, ceramic coat entire car including interior, paint correction, and tint all windows including windshield and roof for 5200. I pick it up from the shop next Wednesday and will post pics. The shop came reccomended and I think they have done a few Rivians already.

A few more progress pics. Full front Clear bra done. Now they will finish paint correction to car and ceramic coat. Then on Monday likely Tint. I decided on 15% since I like dark look. Realize I can get stopped but in my experience as prosecutor, that is usually just pc to stop someone and is only a fix it ticket.
