? New Rivian email: production sequence adjustments to maximize production output in spite of supply challenge

These times are difficult for all, not just auto makers. Couldn't even order my mother in law hiking boots in her size the other day from really anywhere.

That said, I'm in a perpetual limbo with my build. What was once years ago, a first model off the line, snowballs further and further down. Will Max pack be curbed to prioritize standard 250 pack because they can build nearly 2 instead of 1 with the same cells?

It's hard to see (not taking away from the forum members excitement as I feel it too for them) someone whom has ordered literally years after me, to have already taken delivery likely a year, maybe 2 before me, is pretty damn frustrating.

But here I'll continue to wait, becuase "What the hell else am I gonna do?"

Cool question, by the time I get my 2019 preorder, how many people will have already taken delivery, flipped the vehicle, then taken delivery again?

Will be interesting to see when these updated delivery window emails arrive in next few weeks if there has been any delays to Canadian deliveries...

I’m not sure what you are upset about. I didn’t see anything about black mountain interiors being delayed. I’m pretty sure they are going to keep delivering trucks between now and the end of May.
And if we get our trucks before than, the delivery window update will be moot.

I’m happy they are being more transparent and giving us enough information to make more informed decisions than we could before.
But, is this Friday? How come we are getting our Friday update on Monday?

I don’t blame you. I thought we were over the hump. I’m a July-September, but now it makes me wonder. OC gonna be worth it. I bet LE OC will be so rare!

LE OC orders were slated for spring/summer. Many of us already had guides which confirmed this timeline. Some even signed PBAs.

There is no indication you are being delayed. They did do a batch of r1s and you have bm interior. You are probably ok.

Well then, I think they just need to go ahead and knock out the half dozen compass yellow R1S with black mountain and 22s and just get those all out of the way before getting into the bigger batches. ?

From the beginning of all this I have professed that the delivery schedule should ONLY be based on your order date…period. Just not fair but they have not asked my opinion. Why should someone that orders one year after someone else, get their vehicle sooner? Should you be able to board an airplane flight earlier because you wore black pants that day? Frustrated in Hermosa Beach. JB

It’s frustrating to have $1,000 locked up with Rivian since Jan 2019 and see folks that ordered in 2021 (or even January 2022, if today’s Reddit poster is to be believed) getting delivery already. It makes it hard to love the brand.

But at the end of the day, what matters more - the happiness of some guy in Kansas who preordered one truck or making numbers for the stockholders? As one myself (with increasing holdings over the last few weeks), I guess I’ll side with the latter but it doesn’t make it any easier to watch.

I’d sure appreciate some Rivian gear to take the sting away.

It’s going to be a long wait for the email giving us our new delivery windows. Two bets on this one:

1. Most of us had better be sitting down when we open the email. I expect many of us will see our dates pushed back.
2. In the “coming weeks” will turn into sometime in June.

Sidenote: why are Rivian’s communications so dang imprecise? Is it one email to all preorder holders and a second email afterwards? Or are we just waiting on a single email? I can appreciate the lack of communication frequency, but when you do communicate, make it impactful. This email we received raises more questions than it answers.

I suspect (just speculation) they have a BUNCH of R1T / R1S OC people in the queue with Guide contact and PBA's signed (I'm one of them). They need to first figure out what those people are going to do, before they can try to schedule others who are just a tad later.

For those who suggested the FE wood trim with OC interior - I'm ALL FOR THAT! Unfortunately, I have to believe they considered and rejected that option internally as too challenging.

Uggggg - not sure what I'm going to do. Wonder if I can switch to FE interior AND change my exterior color without loosing spot in line.
