Regardless of the amazon incestment, this is why I think it made sense. Every other voice system I've used that is built into cars sucks unless it's produced by Google or Apple. The one in the ID.4 is OK, but absolutely sucks for nav searches.
I'm testing a Polestar today with Android Automotive built in, and will be curious to see how well Google Assistant is integrated.

This does have me thinking. The google in
My polestar is as good as you would expect but it is rather slow. Makes me think it is doing the computation of the command in the cloud as opposed to locally.

Do we know how that is handled by Rivian’s Alexa implementation? I’m not as versed in Alexa so maybe they’re all cloud based but it would be nice to know voice will always work regardless of data coverage.

I must be in the minority of early adopters who love technology but still hate talking to my devices. I find it slightly creepy and I just haven’t had good experiences with it any time I’ve tried it With Carplay/ Google assistant (TV remotes, etc).

I’m with you here. I would rather hunt in the dark for the non-backlit climate controls on our ID.4 than ask the assistant to change the climate. Seeing how easy it was on the rivian im tempted to try…

At least we can disable the wake word for Alexa, and just push the button on the wheel. So I will probably be more OK with using it in that context. I really don't like always-on listening devices, no matter how much they promise it's not really listening to you.

Most of the voice assistants just concern me from a privacy concern. And I know Alexa is by far the most in terms of that invasion from past research.

Is there a way to activate the assistant with a button press instead of the standard wake words? I would prefer the mic muted unless I’m specifically asking something.

Edit: haha. Answered as I was asking by OverZealous just above me. Thanks!

Can you shed some light on the the question of HomeLink is it in the infotainment system or is there the ability to remote open multiple Gates/Garage via buttons on the rear view mirror?

The confirmation on the 400v/800v is great to finally get, but it does give me some hesitations with the current charging curve that seems to be out there.

Granted, MN is a charging desert and we're mostly only 50kw chargers around here while EA still figures this state out, so it probably doesn't matter for me for a few years yet.
Yeah, what's up with MN? I used to live there and am coming up there next month in my new EV6 and was noticing the lack of high speed chargers.

That has been answered many times before. No HomeLink, no buttons on the mirror. There is an RF transmitter, but it is not enabled in the software right now.

Side note, the references to the Chamberlain RF unit have been removed from the latest revision of the user manual. I tried to get CS to confirm if the module is still in the production trucks, but they would not do so. Blows my mind that deliveries are occurring and they refuse to answer these basic questions. I understand CS not knowing and needing to ask another team, but apparently this information is "unknowable" to the CS team at this time. Makes zero sense. Maybe the Guides can give better info?

Maybe, but my experience is that no, the Guides don't officially know more than CS.

I was under the impression that only pre-release vehicles omitted this feature hence them having a RFT but no function access and that the production ready release vehicles would have the function but we didn't know how its integrated...

I have to assume it’s a lack of EV uptake here. The only existing EA station is in Woodbury which doesn’t help me on the northwest of the suburbs.
I know two more are going in but they’re on I90 which will be good for road tripping at least. I’m Really hoping they get to I94 and I35 this year as it would be nice to be able to get to Alexandria and Lutsen without having to rely on single 50kw stations.
