Ha Ha Ha

My Mini Countryman came with Pirelli tires, there were a POS and wore out super fast. Never Again is my motto on Pirelli

That being said, an R1S owner friend (he also had an R1T) told me to not get the 21 inch wheels in a discussion. I was always leaning towards the 20’s anyway for tires choices as we switch from summer to snow to summer every year. So lack of tire choices is not an option.

I agree, $1000 upfront to save money through the life of the vehicle.

I wish they were not AT tires on the 20’s, but will have to live with it.
Well, I've run Pirelli Cinturato All Seasons on my vehicles for years and have consistently gotten the stated mileage out of them...great tire for me. To each their own I guess.

Since customer deliveries are coming up,
I’m leaning towards the 21’s but I can’t find the tire size 255/55/21 anywhere online… I also read that the stock Pirellis wear out fast. I wouldn’t mind the upfront $1,000 upgrade for the 20’s AT if i
could save some headache and getting overpriced 255/55/21’s in the future.

What do you guys think
I had 2 sets of pirellis on my R1T - both sets lasted 40,000 miles. I will go with the 21". My guess is there will be other options available before they need to be replaced.

Probably the 21s. I'd like to have the 20s but I don't think I need the all terrains or the range hit. I will get a set of dedicated winter wheels and tires, so snow performance is not an issue. I anticipate that something besides the Pirelli will be available by the time the 21s need to be replaced. And if not I'll just have to decide whether to get new Pirellis or aftermarket wheels.

I had Pirelli's on my BMW's -they sucked! I will be going with the 20" A/T
Another vote for Pirelli suckage on my Porsche (even though it is wildly different vehicle than a Rivian). Just replaced them with Michellins.

Here is my nut shell peanut gallery view of the tire conundrum. 20 " factory BF Goodrich tires are not 3 peak according to Tire Rack and are a reasonable $275 per tire. T/A is not all terrain (A/T) but BFG calls them Traction Advantage. It's all marketing to me. The photo from Rivian configurator shows + which may indicate specially made for Rivian. BF Goodrich website says 3 peak. The photos of the tires are not clear enough to verify 3 peak. No rating as of today on Tire Rack.
The 21 inch Pirelli Scorpion MS are Tire Rack priced at $442 and says rated GOOD for snow/winter. So you will pay more for the 20" wheel and tire combo and get a cheaper tire on the rim. Most likely because 21" has no competition yet.

And yet might mean never - we'll see, Virtually nobody uses 21
s/ There's Land Rover- a couple. One or two others. I love the look but 21's are a true niche that may never have meaningful competition/availability it seems. Volvo for example jumps straight to 22" as do many others.

Going with the 21s. No cost option, more range and 0.1 faster 0-60?

Honestly mostly because I don't plan to keep it for more than two years. While I love the R2, I find the R2X and Scout Traveler more exciting so we'll likely upgrade when those are available hopefully come 2028.

Boy you guys sure love repeating all the same tire comments in thread after thread after thread, don't ya? 23 posts here so far and not one new piece of information that hasn't been posted a hundred times before.

@Administrator, can we get a new forum topic called "Tires" for those who want to participate in this endless debate?

It most likely is a tire specifically made for Rivian. And it may very will be 3PMSF, but too new for actual photo to be taken and added to BFG's site. So what you see may very well just be the non+ version acting as placeholder. Either way, the T/A is not a AT, as you say, but more a tire in the all-weather class, one rung between AS M+S and AT/3PMSF. All will be known in due time when PR releases and sites catch up.

And you expect this to be different from all other car-related online forums/platforms?

The tires on the vehicles at the block parties do not have the three peak logo.

You might be reading a little too much into my post.
I was making a point. None of those were final production cars. And the tires on them could have been made with existing BFG Trail Terrain T/A moulds, with new and improved compound and more silica, because the new mould for + variant wasn't ready yet. But facts don't keep people from making another 20+ page thread, with no new info to prompt it.
