I can't take credit for this, I saw the post on reddit, but I just can't find the link.

I had a whistling sound between 45-60 MPH the seemed to be coming from the rear passenger door. The door was misaligned and rivian fixed it, but the whistling persisted.
A poster on Reddit said the whistling he heard as well stopped when he placed painters tape over the leading strut edges of the cargo cross bars where there is a seam.

I took off my cross bars -- went for a drive. Whistle gone.
Put cross bars back on---went for another drive. Whistle returned
Put electrical tape on the leading edge seam of my cross bars as pictured below-- went for a drive. Whistle has been gone since.

Rivian R1T R1S Cross Bars Wind Whistle fix using electrical tape IMG_3820

The electrical tape is barely noticible, at some point I may just try to fill the front seam with clear silicone. Just can't believe this actually worked. Hope it helps someone else, again not my idea just passing it along.

Yep, referenced in similar thread, I added some tape on Tuesday and it did seem to make a difference, I might need to reapply as there is one area I'm still hearing things from but even then it's greatly reduced.

Wow! Thanks for this. I’ts hard to get the girlfriend to ride up there at 60 mph and try to diagnose. She appreciates this too. I like the silicone idea to avoid the eventual car wash challenge with tape. Rivian community is awesome. Thank you!

Can confirm, inserts did nothing to fix the whistle, but a bit of electrical tape eliminated the whistle from both driver and passenger side.

That was my Reddit post. Figured it wasn't necessary to make a new thread in here for it, so I simply replied in the other 3 existing threads here referencing the issue and the fix, which was ultimately not my idea. That credit belongs to @coaster206 and his post in this thread.

The good news is that you don't have to tape up past where the bottom black half of the bars ends into the silver part. There are numerous people who have since taped only the lower black half of those vertical seams and have no whistling. I'll modify my tape job at some point so it's even less noticeable.

Thanks for posting this. I have a whistle noise that starts around 35 miles an hour.

Thanks for reposting this. I couldn’t find it on Reddit either. I had to look closely at where the tape is. The seam that is covered is tiny. I will try this.
