20” All Gunmetal Wheels using vinyl inserts modification

These are what the 20” two tone machined tips wheels look like in uniformed gunmetal color. I used gunmetal vinyl inserts to over the milled machined ends….. cheap solution, that I like a lot, plus easily removable if l have a change of heart. Before pics and after pics included.

Looks great! I did the same thing a few weeks back and also am a big fan. I figure that in the time the vinyl lasts I can decide if I want them that way permanently then I'll do a PC or like you mentioned they can easily be removed.

Actually, the savings is more like $1700, less the $40. The 20” wheels were an $1800 option. The all black 20” wheels were a $3500 option. Still, a nice savings. Personally, I like the look of the all black $1800 wheels better than the $3500 wheels.

At post 3/1 prices, the standard 20”s are now $2000. The all blacks are remain at $3500.

The savings were calculated based on an LE, where the standard 20's were a free upgrade, but the Dark 20's were still $3,500.

Interested to see how the thin pieces of vinyl will hold up to pressure washers, or driving in the rain?

This post alone made my daily review of the forum worthwhile. I was on the edge about the 20" AT or 20" AT Dark and this sold me on the first. To me, they do look better than the dark when all one color. And if the vinyl doesn't hold up, powder coating is always a more permanent solution, but at least you'll know how your truck will look in advance.

Also, for those with an order spec'd to dark who might want to switch, customer service suggested waiting until final ordering to make a change to ensure no delivery date impact.

At $40/set, you can replace them twice a year and still save money. Also, keep in mind that the "dark" wheels are just a tinted clear coat on top of the normal wheels, so be prepared for those to be scratched and scuffed...
