Hey Forum Folks!

The wait is (kind-of) over, and we’re all set for pre-orders for the Interrobang Gear Glide Tunnel Tray. We’ve shared bits and pieces in various posts and videos, but here are all the details in one place.

Our installed tray, fondly nicknamed “Slim Slidey,” boasts a top-to-latch clearance of 15.5 inches. Do note, this clearance might vary up to an inch depending on your gear tunnel configuration. The sliding mechanism extends up to 40 inches, allowing easy access from both the driver and passenger sides.

What makes this tray special? UHMW (ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene)! This super material made its debut with our tonneau cover and is now a featured player here. Lightweight and durable, UHMW offers low friction for easy movement and is resistant to harsh weather conditions and many chemicals. Plus, it's recyclable—we use recycled UHMW for our products.

Installation is a breeze. We use the existing bolt holes in the Rivian’s gear tunnel. Just pop up the cover for the bolt holes, position the tray, and twist in the bolts. While one person can manage, having a friend to help with the weight and size of the glide is super helpful.

As seen in our video, the slots carved out in the tray are perfect for securing your gear with bungee or cinch straps. Orders include two divider slides to help keep your crates, gear, or popcorn in place during travel. Need more dividers? Additional ones will be available for order. We're also working on a few add-ons like specialty bags or crates, custom-made for your Rivian and ready to secure to the slide.

And the eternal question: Where’s the kitchen? Trust us, it's always on our mind! While we've tried a few models, this one needs to ruminate longer. We’re waiting for that prophetic dream to reveal the perfect design.

The cost for the Gear Glide Tunnel Tray is $1400, as usual, shipping is free for the contiguous US. During the design process, we kept three things in mind: dual sliding, low profile, and lower price. Along the way, we reached many cross-roads where we had to make decisions regarding the quality and durability of the slide. As we found solutions for extending the tray on each side and maximizing the clearance, the quality of the necessary parts kept ticking that price higher. The final price didn't quite hit that low mark we were aiming for, but we can assure you, we are satisfied with the quality of the final product and believe it's worth every penny.

As with the Tonneau Cover, we’re here and happy to help anyone looking to DIY their own gear tunnel tray. We’ve tried a lot of different versions with basically every sliding mechanism available off the shelf, online, or at your favorite home improvement store. We’ll look to share what we’ve learned along the way.

Pre-orders start here. The biggest delay between pre-order and fulfillment is the lead time for materials. Our latest quote is 12 weeks. During this time, we’ll prepare as much of the product as possible. Once the final piece arrives, we should be able to finish and send orders within a few days. We expect orders to ship in early November.

As always, shipping is free within the contiguous US.

Cheers to new adventures!

What's the maximum weight capacity? I don't see that listed anywhere unless I missed it.

Does anyone know how the slide mechanism works? In one video it looked like the track under the tray was scratching the top of the gear tunnel door. I don’t see a locking mechanism for the slide. Perhaps it isnt needed.

As long as it’s evenly distributed, at least 200lbs. I haven’t broken it yet, so I haven’t really found the limit. I’ve been torture testing it, and so far it’s handled everything I’ve thrown at it.

No locking mechanism, we found it to be unnecessary. It’s glides easily, but not too easily if that makes sense. We have spacers to adjust the height and dial it in for your specific truck. I did manage to scrape my door a little when my air compressor compartment didn’t close all the way.

Definitely.
So if there are no slide locks/stops... with weight of jack, wouldn't it slide around and bang into the hatches as I drive on uneven terrain and take corners?

The tray fits closely enough to the hatch doors that it’s held in place pretty well. It doesn’t really have the space to bang around. The reason it got nixed from the final build was that it was either too complicated and an obvious failure point, or you’d have to unlock it from both sides, which is a PITA. We decided it was best to keep everything as simple as possible and I haven’t had any issues. I took my truck off-roading in the dunes of Michigan a couple weeks back and everything held in place nicely.

I watched the video, great stuff. Can you clarify-

On the web page it says "Maximize Your Gear Tunnel: No more making the choice between passenger and driver side access! Unlike gear tunnel sleds currently on the market, our glide provides tray access and 40" extension from either side of the gear tunnel. " however in the video it says it only extends 1/3 of the way on one side and 2/3 on the other?

The webpage makes it seem like it extends the same amount, the video doesn't. So just trying to track which is correct, I may be misunderstanding as well.

Thanks!

Nicely done. It looks like this may have a tendency to scratch up the plastic on the interior of the gear tunnel doors. Any thoughts there?

It appears there is nothing to hold the tray in the track, so if you have an off-balance load and have it extended it seems it will tip the tray. Is that correct?
