I noticed a chip in the windshield on delivery day, right in my line of sight. I took a few pictures to document the damage. Since then, a couple more chips have appeared, and I’ve only had the car for just over a month. I have a service appointment scheduled for January 30th and am hoping they’ll replace it.

I got a chip right around one month into ownership. I had Safelite repair it the next day but it's right in my line of sight and still slightly noticeable.

I'm hoping the rest of the ownership goes better as I'm two months in and have already had (1) door ding (2) flat tire (3) windshield chip

I currently have two cracks in the same windshield. Both are on the driver's side corners. They happened two months apart. Luckily, I hadn't replaced it from the first one. Rivian windshields definitely seem soft and crack prone. I am posting to see how many others have

experienced the same thing. Maybe it's a fluke but I don't think so.

We just noticed two new chips on the R1S. Also we got micro scratches from a bum gas station squeegee. Any luck with chip filler?

No chip in the glass but driving to LA on the 5 and a rock put chip in the exoshield that was installed. Hit mid glass, 3 inches from the driver side A pillar. Probably just paid for itself.

I'm already on my third windshield in less than 3 years.... I have been making sure I don't tailgate or drive anywhere near big trucks. Infuriating. I just got another chip and crack that is about 7 inches long right now but sealed. I will be pissed if this one keeps spreading.

How long does this last? Website just says 1+ years. Anyone had any extended experience?
These things are going to take relative wear and tear based on your driving habits, environments and exposures, and how well you maintain your windscreen + protection.

In my experience, I got almost 2.5 years out of my first windscreen film (not the TWraps version, to be clear). I have had TWraps windscreen protection film on my truck and my wife's R1S since around Labor Day 2025 (installed Labor Day Weekend), and it still looks good and has caught plenty of hits from road debris.

I will caution anyone seeking to get this stuff: it is harder to clean than glass, given the nature of the fact that you're not cleaning a 'hard' surface, so if you leave any bird droppings, sap, or squished bugs on it for a long period of time before cleaning it, it will take some elbow grease to remove it. But I still prefer the peace of mind and assurance this offers versus a bare windscreen.

I have more chips in my hood and front “grill” than any other vehicle I’ve had and certainly in the first 3 years. Still no chips in my glass.
