I took delivery yesterday at the factory event. Overall it was a great experience because I got to drive away with the truck! However getting to that point was pretty painful. My guide (Hillary) was a god send trying to navigate all of the errors and hurdles the order management process was throwing in front of us.
  • Account wouldn't open to complete the purchase process until 8pm the day before delivery. Guide had to email me the VIN so I could have insurance completed in hopes that we could actually get the transaction completed.
  • Once the account had opened it errored out trying to complete the buyers agreement.
  • Once past the buyer's agreement it errored out getting to the purchase page and didn't give me a message. She told me told me later it had something to do with tax calculation and she had to reach out to internal teams again to unstick the process.
She was there until 11pm the day before trying to get my account unlocked to complete the purchase and it wasn't until 8am the next morning while I was in Rockford, IL on the way to the plant that we finally completed the purchase on my phone browser while talking with the guide.

Once we actually arrived at the plant things started smoothing out. We were given a tour of the front area of the plant floor. Got to see an R1S and a bunch of finished and close to finish R1Ts and Amazon vans. Pretty cool experience to actually get to walk the line with one of the workers. We didn't go very far (about 15 minute tour) but still very cool. After that we hung out in the lobby talking with other's picking up their truck that day. Right before we were taken to the delivery area we got a nice surprise and were able to chat with RJ for about 5 minutes. Super down to earth dude. For someone with as much going on as he does, he never made you feel like he needed to wrap up the conversation because he had to move on to his next obligation. He talked a lot about the supply chain issues they are wrestling with. Very enjoyable and open guy to talk with.

In the delivery area we were able to see the vehicle platform and a couple of R1Ts with a tent and camp kitchen respectively. The final delivery and paper signing went quickly. The delivery specialist walked through the features and operation of the truck and then we were on our way!

Unfortunately they only had 220 miles of charge on the vehicle so I had to stop on the way home. The navigation app found a level 3 charger in Rockford at the Sam's Club and I was able to put on 100 miles of range in 20 minutes which was more than enough to finish the trip home. It was kind of comical because there was an R1T in the charger when I got there and 3 more that showed up after I plugged in. Several people stopped by the charging area asking what was going on because they had never heard or seen the vehicles before and that day and suddenly they were everywhere. Anyone heading north with their new truck was stopping at that charger.

For anyone that's interested, link to pics is in the signature. Happy to answer any questions in the thread or with a PM. Can't guarantee timeliness but I'll do my best. For the 264 miles I've got on the vehicle so far I'm pretty happy and impressed. The 0-60 in 3 seconds is real .. and fun :)

Curious if anyone got to see the assembly line on the tour, and if so, any evidence of FE or OC interiors on the line...if you are allowed to say!

I did get to see the final stages of the assembly line. I didn't sign any NDAs before walking on the floor with the tour guide so I'm assuming anything he shared with us is fair to share with others. He mentioned he had seen mostly BM on the vehicles he's worked on so far. I didn't pay close attention to what he said about the timing the other interiors being implemented but it sounded like it was going be in the coming weeks (a.k.a soon, everyone's favorite word in this forum).

He also mentioned that he's seeing more Red Canyon vehicles (his favorite color) and he showed us a Limestone R1T that was one of the earliest of that color built. I noticed mostly Midnight, Glacier White, Launch Green, Rivian Blue, and El Cap trucks on or just off the line. The other colors weren't well represented, at least on the floor at that exact time.

That's the best I can offer from an untrained eye and ear :)

@anson.goldade congrats. That El Cap looks sharp. Did anyone in the factory talk about when the first Explore may be seen by a mortal in a show or in an event?

Thanks @Max.

I do not recall hearing anything about Explore package during the visit, assuming that's what you are referring to.

Nice update. To you was Limestone more grey or blue in person?

Just talked with my guide and she estimated 30-40 were delivered yesterday at the factory. If I had not gotten mine the day before I would have taken the bike out again to pick it up (and gotten very wet in the process).

I was there and took delivery yesterday. It was very last minute and from what I hear they contacted a number of people and ultimately had to tell quite a few of them there wasn’t a truck available for them at the last moment.

I took delivery first thing in the morning, and after my guide and I left the factory to drive it around so he could show me the features, we returned to the plant for a quick photo. As he was taking the photo, someone came out and said that RJ had called an audible and they were going to do factory tours.

I obviously stayed for that. Very cool to get a look at where my truck was made, and see their facility. As we were finishing up, we saw a single white R1S at the end of the line, with a number of people inspecting it.

Overall, very cool day and experience, and the buzz in and around around the factory was awesome to witness.

Agree 100%. Was on the floor around 10:15 and an R1S rolled off. Very sweet. As we walked out, the guy said oh wow, there's RJ. So talked to him for a bit and he was truly as excited as I was. Cool thing was on the way back to WI, the nav had me stop at Electrify American in Rockford/Sams Club and the one 350KW working was taken by a Rivian. It was at 95% so I waited and him and his kids came running out. He unplugged, said he helped build my vehicle and thanked me. We plugged in, went to lunch and came back to another Rivian waiting for me. He just came from factory pick up. But I had to roll so we just laughed, said we loved the day and rolled. It was a great day.
