I have the lock and unlock door set to driver only but half the time I need the back doors unlocked to load my dogs or gear. Is there a way unlock and lock the other passenger doors without using the main screen? I keep thinking I must be missing something in the app. Would the fob allow me to unlock all doors if the setting was drive only?

Most cars unlock all doors with a double press on the fob. I’ve never used mine, don’t know if the Rivian does.

I have my 2023 R1S set up the same way - only driver's door opens on approach, or with a single tap of either the phone app or the fob.

Fortunately, for opening all doors, a simple double tap works with either the phone app and/or the fob. I use that functionality a lot too - it's much more convenient than having to lean inside to the center screen.

Argh, double tapping on the iPhone app for me does nothing. I tried hard press, long press, double tap. Nada.

Do you have an iPhone?

HA thought it was just me - I read this thread and ran out to my R1S (gen2) and tried both iWatch and iPhone app and .... nothing. Was so hoping this would work!

Mine's a gen2 as well. I cannot figure out why more people haven't complained about this because it's so annoying and it seems like a simple fix. It baffles me that they don't have the doors available in the app on the controls screen.

I also can't figure out why the proximity sensor opens when I'm really far away when I'm not home - like it's so far away that someone could get into the vehicle and I wouldn't be able to do anything about it - but while I am home I have to stand right next to it and wait.

Oh jeez, I was wrong on the double tap on phone - sorry about that!

I just double checked my setup.
- Only the fob double tap works.
- For the phone, proximity unlocks the driver door only, and then if I need all doors to open I have to pull the phone out of my pocket & hit the open button and then all doors open with it’s single tap. (No double tap effect.)

I am using an iPhone 16 and my Gen 1 vehicle is on software version 2026.07.0 with Access settings:
- Door unlocking behavior: Unlock driver door. (This appears to be for fob and proximity, but not phone app since it opens all doors.)
- Proximity locking: On for everything - fob and phones.

Why not just set it up to lock/unlock all doors?

So you don't have a stranger running up after you unlock and hopping into your passenger seat with who knows what intentions.

I let all my doors unlock all at once, but on my wifes Mazda it's better for just her drivers door unlocking with the first press.

2 reasons - I'm a single woman and it's a security issue. Related to that the unlocking happens when I am NOWHERE near the vehicle so anyone could grab something from the vehicle or get in it before I get to the vehicle.

You have door unlocking set to driver only but the app opens all? In my vehicle and app, whatever I have door unlocking behavior set to is what the app will do and there is no way to do the other way from the app which sucks. I want it set to driver only with the ability to open all when I want without having to use the display. I don't have a fob because my vehicle didn't come with one.

If the driver's door is unlocked, pressing unlock on the key fob or the mobile app unlocks all the doors.

I respect that. Wasn't thinking about the safety issue. What is the world coming to?

Tried that - doesn't work for me. I called service for another issue and raised this.

This is an 80s paranoia that has hung on for decades, not new. Might be based on how shitty the place is where you live.
