Calls the OP's concerns "exaggerated" while making a handful of his own. Classic.
And yours adds so much value.

What? Another shit take. Might explain the 88 SS in your handle though.
You called the OP’s post an exaggeration, then immediately rattled off a string of your own. What exactly is confusing about the hypocrisy?

Im not making a thread whining about it or saying people need to be fired over it am I? Not exactly a difficult concept to grasp.

Ah, another Stanfield disciple rushing in to defend his messiah. Rivian’s not sacred—criticism isn’t heresy. This forum is starting to feel like an echo chamber where valid concerns get brushed off as “exaggerations” and buried in downvotes to protect fragile buyer pride.

And honestly, judging by some of the post counts, for people who bought “adventure vehicles,” you all seem pretty allergic to actual adventure. Maybe log off and touch some grass lol.

Bud, you literally wrote paragraphs debunking why his criticism wasn't valid. LOL, are you for real?

Not one post in this thread said "criticism is heresy" or anything even close to it. In fact the only intolerance of opinion came from OP who seemed irritated with others who shared they had NOT experienced the issue they were complaining about :CWL:

I'm not sure why that would bother them (or you), but you clearly don't understand what "fragile" means...

I was out rock climbing this morning, how about you Mr. Adventure? Spend less time worrying about me and more time on reading comprehension.

And, it was explicitly stated all along right from the beginning that the data plan was included free on a temporary basis. That temporary basis lasted far longer than we expected. There is no nefarious "de-contenting" here. Just the opposite - Rivian gave us free data for years longer than they said they would. Thank you Rivian.
As if communication only occurs once, and it happens to be when you joined the conversation .

Rivian knows the communications on Alexa voice connectivity weren't consistent from the initial unveiling in 2018 onward. And that's who the feedback was for in the post anyway. Not for the hostile fanboys that defend Rivian as if there perfect.

You actually literally said just that:
...now costs a monthly subscription to get basic voice & navigation connectivity...
You actually literally said just that:

And that's false - you get these for free.

And specifically, I have "basic voice & navigation" in my R1T right now and I'm not paying for a Connect+ subscription.
Let's break down the English for those that are pre-K here: "and" is a conjunction that is used to connect words of the same part of speech that are to be taken jointly. Meaning that voice and data connectivity is:
  • voice connectivity
  • navigation connectivity
Which indicates the data is needed for Alexa voice services, like asking for directions (requiring voice data and navigation data), or even just to call someone (strangely, as that should only require bluetooth like other systems, but it seems the voice interpretation engine overall requires connectivity). This connectivity isn't free UNLESS you specifically tether, which isn't a typical activity required in other services, like CarPlay (to my point), etc... because it ports your phone into the vehicle UI, and uses the phone's data inherently.

Saying my statement is false is misleading at best, since it requires either (a) a Connect+ subscription, or (b) a new, non-standard method to be established with your vehicle to access data. To clarify, new indicates a change from before update {x} that changed the Rivian data connectivity to requiring either a Connect+ membership or tethering outside data.

I read that differently, I read it as connect+ is a dedicated in vehicle data connection.

The second part explains what is available with a data connection but I do not read it as it is not available if you provide a different data connection such as tethering to a mobile hotspot or phone.
I can agree with what you are differentiating there.

However, IIRC, the update that introduced Connect+ didn't have a write-up going into detail about the two methods that could be used to maintain a data connection, just the benefits of subscribing to the Connect+ membership (probably some intended marketing bias in it). I'm willing to admit that I could be wrong on that, but that is what I remember being highlighted.

Over the years Rivian's documentation has not always been great. As an example, I remember trying to look up how to activate/de-activate cruise control when I first received my truck, and it was nowhere to be found in the manual. I had to find some rando's video on YouTube to figure it out.

Obviously there are people on this forum that are insulted by any inkling of an inaccuracy when describing Rivian features and possibilities (I'm not saying you, as your response was respectful). However, is it really my job as a customer to go find an unaffiliated forum to learn about an random updates changes to my vehicle, or should Rivian do a better job communicating about the impact these features have on my already completed purchase?

We have the Gen1 R1T.

Personally I think it is fine. At first I was one of those people that screamed "WE WANT CARPLAY".....now, I am screaming "I don't want carplay, just a messaging app". Yes, I know I can say "Hey Alexa", but I am talking about the messaging app notification with the red dot that apple uses. I have my phone on silent 99.9999% of the time and unless I look at my phone while driving, I don't see any messages (mainly from my wife).

I have Apple Music+ and Spotify...that covers all my needs. I don't charge in public so I don't really need to be able to stream Netflix while stopped.

I do wish they would allow the PLAY screen on Apple Music and Spotify to be moved over to the drivers side of the screen.
To clarify, are you saying you have Apple Music+ and Spotify because you subscribe to Rivian Connect+, or that you have them on your phone?

Point out where I explicitly said someone used the phrase 'criticism is heresy.' You won’t find it—because it’s not about the exact words, it’s about the pattern. The second anyone voices a negative experience with Rivian, the thread gets swarmed with defensive replies and downvotes. That behavior implies criticism isn't welcome, even if no one says it outright. It’s not hard to grasp unless you’re being willfully obtuse.

OMG could you be any more dramatic? You are literally complaining about people having different opinions while admitting that you don’t actually have any evidence of what you claim happens. So when someone with a positive experience posts about it and those who disagree chime in, does that qualify as a “swarm”? Or is that ok with you?

Now you are asking me to prove your point for you because YOU say it’s a “pattern”, not “explicit”:CWL:
