No one would be calling asking Rivian what their SOH is, if the people that really want to know would be able to get the answer from the otherwise hidden RIDE menu. We aren't talking about a front-and-center number like the motor temps, which I'll remind are still available on the main screen despite that initial jump in support claims they may have had. I can easily access my phone battery SOH with my iPhone. Tesla has magnitudes more vehicles on the road and very granular battery and SOH information is available through OBD scanning. Their service mode now has a HV battery health test from what I understand. Maybe something like that can be implemented in the years to come.I don't disbelieve. I was merely pointing out that the removal of the SoH reading was more about triage for the service department and that they likely took steps to maintain the same great driving experience throughout standard ownership/warranty periods.
Had they answered the op's question, it would open them up to having everyone on the forum calling asking what their SoH is. My suggestion in that regard is next time you're in for service, ask the tech at the service center when you're there. Depending on the service center, they may not tell you either, but at least you are already using billable time.
I'll trust that this is something the company will eventually figure out a better way of handling. For now, being early, I'll give it a pass. I'm not going to bother with the API number people are talking about because I think too many assumptions are being made. That figure could just be a rough calculation that Rivian makes but doesn't use for anything important because it may not be accurate. To some extent, I understand as well this is exactly the same reasoning behind removing the SOH number access for now.
