There is a Delivery Center in Dallas; my R1T is there now getting prep for flat bed delivery to my house in a week : )
Yes, temp location on Peeler that's been known for a while now (that's a pretty old post that you quoted). And I haven't bothered checking on progress on Hawes since finding out about Peeler.

Completed my First Mile Drive today in Dallas with a nice young lady who's name I don't remember. Silver truck on 22" brights. Awesome experience all in all. Vented seats were incredible in 90+ degree Texas heat.

Nothing super significant to report. A few notes that I picked up:

  • She said it was about 50/50 people who had test drives with her who had a guide assigned
  • Said that every truck she delivered was someone that she did a test drive with
  • Said Texas was #2 behind California for deliveries
  • Said they expected to get a lot of trucks in Q2 because they exceeded their delivery goals for Q1
  • Said usually having a First Drive scheduled was a good indication you're going to get a guide (obviously there are exceptions with Max Pack holders)

Texas is #2? don't get me wrong, i'm sure she knows what she is talking about.

But i find it hard to believe that we are number 2. Haven't seen that many trucks come in to the Rivian service center.

Thank you for sharing. Great to hear that Texas is #2 after Cali for the R1T; Texas is truck country!
I've never been to one of these shows nor have I ever seen a R1T in the wild. My R1T is currently at the Dallas Delivery Center being QC'd and prep for delivery next week here in Texas. It has been a long wait. Still no Guide for my R1S; probably early next year.

I was surprised she said that as well. I assume that doesn't include employees in Normal. I would have assumed Colorado or Washington would be #2.

Obviously she could also be wrong or may have misspoken as well.

This is super interesting, and makes a lot of sense to me. It it logical that Rivian would ideally want anyone getting a vehicle to have already seen/driven it first. I know there are people who have not and have still received a vehicle, but I would bet the very large majority of folks who already have their R1T attended either a First Mile or some other event.

Correlation does not mean causation - it could just be that Rivian prioritizes First Mile for people who will otherwise shortly get a Guide (likely), but it could also mean that all else equal, Rivian might accelerate delivery for people that have already attended an event.

This is the first time I've heard of a Rivian employee basically saying there is at least some correlation. I'm obviously pumped about that, since I had my Dallas First Mile a few weeks ago.

I guess now I'll start checking rivian.com for a Guide assignment twice daily instead of only once ?

Yes the way she said it implied correlation and not causation, that having a test drive was probably a good indication that's you'd get a guide soon if you don't have one already simply because the criteria for assigning first drives are similar to those for guide assignment.

That said, I wouldn't be surprised if, all other things being equal, one person having a first Drive complete may put them ahead of a person who hasn't in guide selection. Unfortunately nobody really knows what that process looks like so it's all conjecture and hope.

I had a test drive in Houston in early May, and my guide told me basically the same thing. When I posted that here, I got laughed out of the thread...

Tomorrow, when I take delivery of my R1T, it will be the first time I've ever seen one in person. Preordered mid 2019.

I see you are getting an Adventure even though you ordered in 2019. Were you perhaps originally a Max Pack or Explore configuration (hence no LE)? If so, I think that puts you in a totally different part of the flowchart. Lots and lots of First Mile test drives in Dallas in the last two months - would be weird if you were just randomly skipped over without some reason.

To be fair - I'd much rather not have had my test drive and be getting my truck! Enjoy, and hope all goes smoothly tomorrow!

I had to take whatever they have in inventory or else more waiting and I'm done waiting...

I completed my First Mile Drive on Friday (5/20) in Frisco (Dallas Area) with the Rivian Field Agent. Her name was Sam and it was an LA Silver with 22" Bright wheels and Black Mountain interior. I had originally ordered the Max Pack and change to Large on 05/01. With all the focus now on reducing cost with smaller batteries, fewer motors, etc. I wasn't sure that Max Pack was still a priority. Configuration now R1T, Adventure Package, Rivian Blue, Ocean Coast, 22" Bright Wheels, with off road underbody. Anyway, I got an invite to schedule a First Mile 3 days after changing to Large Battery (don't know if those are related or not). I was impressed with the overall vehicle, storage, features, and performance. Now waiting to see if I get assigned a Guide. I haven't changed my interior order from the Ocean Coast so that may still be an issue as I understand they have delayed that configuration.
