Hi! I know this thread is a couple years old, but it was the first result that came up on google and I just wanted to say thanks. The video really helped me out a lot. I didn't have a tool like yours but wrapped a flat screwdriver in painter's tape and was easily able to push those two "recessed" buttons.
Took me longer to walk from one side of the car to the other than it did to pop the headrests out; appreciate that your frustration saved me time, haha. ?
(I wanted to remove mine for better visibility and I almost never have anyone sit in the back seat of my work truck)
