We took delivery of the R2 last week and was disappointed to learn that the 'Hey Rivian' service is not available yet. We also have a T1 at the house and can tell you that this is a big issue for hands free use of nav and many features. I wish Rivian would at least have the Alexa option while they figure out the update. I can truly say that if we had known this, we would have delayed the delivery since we were in no hurry for the R2. Just a heads up for those of you already familiar with Rivian systems.

This has been a known since late winter. Barring unforeseen delays, It's rolling out with the next OTA. Can't imagine a universe, personally, where not having it for a few weeks would truly matter.

Don’t worry about it. It will be added in future update. Wassym, head of software, says it best: the Rivian you take delivery of is in the least capable form of itself.

Unlike legacy brand cars that never updates or evolve during course of entire ownership.

Software-defined pure EVs are more like computers than cars. Overtime, the operating system evolves and new apps/functions are gained. The future you might even complain that there are too many updates and some aren’t exciting enough.
