Has anyone tried to adjust the front AC vents on a test drive? How easy is it - this is HUGE deal for my wife. Also, the user manual doesn't clearly show if there are three vents up front or four. Has anybody noticed the actual count?

Thanks

It’s pretty easy through the screen, it was just two settings for me, one on each side, got them where I wanted then never touched them again the rest of the drive.

Count me as skeptical going in but I found it easier. True, you have a couple of screen taps to get there, but the actual adjustment, one finger just sliding around, is quicker than physically reaching for and adjusting the vent to the left of my wheel and the two to the right in my current car.

There are "two" vents you can adjust that run along the dash: driver side and passenger. I say "two" meaning two outlets. The air gets directed multiple directions within each. With each, dragging around the control alters how much up, down and how wide the spread. There is the separate vents for the windshield and in each footwell with separate on/off touchscreen controls.

Additionally the seat coolers are awesome.

Thanks for your feedback guys! I think the test drive, whenever it eventually happens, is going to be interesting. The goal is to have good airflow with no air blowing directly on my wife, wherever she is sitting.🙃

just know that, at the moment, you apparently can’t turn one side completely off. You can in an R1. Dunno if that’s coming with an update, was an oversight or what…

I thought I saw in one of the review videos that there was a driver only icon/button which limited the vents to the driver only

If you can find that I'd like to know. The reps at the Rivian Space couldn't figure it out.
@RivianTrackr- Jose, any ideas? I know you fiddled with the HVAC some.

Pretty sure its 4 vents based on the animation while youre adjusting it. Its a bit different than the R1 where you can control all all 4 individually. In the R2 both vents driver/passenger are "locked" together. So if you don't want it pointed directly at you, it'll move it outwards and vice versa.

at 29:07. I think that button is driver only?
When Jose @RivianTrackr taps what he calls "Face Air" his hand covers the screen but looks like passenger side turns off? I'm told you're supposed to be able to tap either pill on the screen, driver or passenger and turn that one off. I'm doing another drive tomorrow, I'll look/ask again.

What I have found funny going back and forth between physical vents and using a touch screen is that one is not necessarily better than the other. All it comes down to is how good the system is at helping aim airflow where you want it.

On the R1, I was always hot and struggled to get the vents to my face. In our Tesla and on the test drive of the R2, I had no issue using the screen to get the air where I wanted and moved on. On my current BMW with manual vents, I'm always struggling to get them where I need to.

The whole AC being on a screen thing is overblown. You'll be fine. Get in and familiarize yourself. You'll get used to it and realize its not a big deal. As for the count, it appears to be 4.

Ah yes, face air lol

Yeah that's Driver HVAC only so it turns off passenger and rear vents.

Just looked that up in the owner's manual. Looks like passenger doesn't currently have ability to turn their side off via the vent pill.
