An unkown person backed into my tailgate - likely with a. truck. The metal bodywork ABOVE the light bar took most of the brunt. I think the ding below can be pulled out. My question is whether the top piece is separate from the lower portion that has RIVIAN across it. Obviously my preference would be to just replace that portion since I am likely going to pay out of pocket to avoid the insurance claim and subsequent increase in premium.

If it's not your fault, why would your premium increase? Plus, does your policy not have uninsured motorist coverage? because that's what hit-and-run damages would be covered under. You simply call your insurance, tell them which Rivian-certified collision shop you'll be taking it to, and pay your deductible to the shop when it's fixed. The tailgate, as far as I know, is 1-piece.

And one of many eBay salvage listings (not mine) for additional photographic reference: https://ebay.io/m/MSGncF
