R1S Pediastrian Warning System

Picked up my Launch Edition R1S last Saturday (nov 2018 preorder holder), in Southern California. Easily the best SUV under 100K in the world. Now I know this has been addressed by Rivian in the past and the sound volume of the pedestrian warning system has been decreased. However, the sound remains unusually irritating (I've owned a Tesla) and also I clearly hear the sound at upwards of 30mph+. It's not legally required above 19mph, so just hoping Rivian sees this and on the next update stop the sound above 19mph.
I know Rivian is legally required to have the sound, and agree with it's purpose so this isn't a discussion about that.

Is it definitely not the electric motors? They are much louder in the rivian than other EVs. I can’t even hear the PWS with the windows up anymore, especially not above 30mph.

Thanks that's a good question and point. It might be the motor, but it seems like everytime even upon slowing from 40 to 30mph I hear the PWS, it could be the motor, but not sure why it would getting louder. Can you tell when does your PWS stop emitting sound (at what mph)? Thanks!

This. Rivian's electric motor whine is absolutely more pronounced than any EV I've owned other than my Arcimoto - whose motors are "open to the air" and thus way more noticeable.

The Rivian's pedestrian warning sound seems to be designed to amplify/compliment the motor whine - so it seems to just have the sound shift from artificial sound to motor whine as you speed up.

PWS is only active <20mph, afaik.

If I drive in a quiet area with the windows down I can hear it turn off past 19mph.

Thanks, as I'm reading more on the forums, the electric motors have been found to be much louder as you pointed out. As long as it's not artificial sound above 19mph, I'm fine with the electric motors, there are 4 of them after all
