Peeling steering wheel

If you look at the Rivian steering wheel, at the bottom there is an upside-down V piece. It has a flat black coating. Mine is peeling. I tried doing a search, but I get everything about "steering" and "wheel" and "peeling". That's about everything. It's very disappointing that it is peeling. My old Honda Ridgeline would never peel like that. I wonder if this is a known issue. It looks like the piece itself could be replaced without replacing the whole steering wheel. Of course I will get it fixed. I think it's possible to create a piece of plastic with a flat black surface that is built in that won't peel. Why create a problem that isn't necessary? Is a coated piece of plastic a little bit prettier than plain plastic? Could you even tell the difference? I would be happy with plain plastic to avoid yet another service trip. This one little piece of plastic makes me wonder about Rivian in general and why they create problems that don't have to be.

I haven't seen this before. If you have less than 60k on the truck should be covered under new car warranty. Steering wheel can be replaced via mobile service if available in your area.

They replaced that part for me under warranty for the same concern. The new part was chipped(probably got chipped while it was swapped) also but it was so small that I just left it....

I was quoted an insane $1,546.39. Somehow Rivian claims this is not covered under Comprehensive Ltd Warranty because it is “cosmetic”.

This nonsense is losing me as an advocate and definitely knocks down my brand loyalty.
