Honestly, if I had not seen some of the work done by PDR magicians on this website, I would have likely been staring down an expensive quote for cut/mend/paint on the right/rear quarter of my R1T. The bruise on mine looked like this:
with even more scratching right along the plastic arch. Don't ask how it happened. It just did.
After a few PDR folks in my local town said "no... we don't even want to touch that", I reached out to Piedmont Auto Works in Greensboro NC. The team there looked at the dent, told me they'd worked on a few Rivians before, but certainly couldn't 'guarantee' success. I told them to simply 'do their best' and we'll see how it goes. My expectations were that I'd simply get a truck that didn't look like hell, and would be perfectly serviceable. Well, much to my amazement, it turned out like this:
They did pull the bumper and wheel liner, but I think that was the extent of the disassembly. Much glue, pulling, and careful massaging later, it was done! Even the tiny rub/creases along the wheel arch lip are gone. So. Much. Happiness!
Total price, in my opinion was very very reasonable... (under $1750). Who knows what another location or dent might cost; for this, I am overjoyed.
Yes, there's some orange-peel -- above where the dent was located -- that I'll get corrected down the road. For now, I'm happy as a clam. Happy customer of https://piedmontautoworks.com/ all day long.
