It’s a valid question, and I’ve long wondered the same thing. I’m not sure what the purpose of parking lights is if they’re only good for a few minutes.

Driving in places that are well lit, but you would be a jerk running headlights in.

But also when you're parked and still in the vehicle in the same situation as above.

If you need to get out of the vehicle and still need other lights, either put the car in show-and-tell mode or grab the flashlight out of the driver's door.

This also bugs me. I tried using my truck to repair a fence at night using the headlights. I was baffled that I could not keep the headlights on, even while leaving the door open.

It would be cool if there was a way to keep the rear fog lights on too. Self launching or loading up a boat at night at a dark boat ramp is a little easier if you can keep the truck lit up. The rear fogs actually do a pretty good job if you can get them to stay on.

My workaround is using my phone and hitting unlock from the app (usually as I’m approaching the ramp/trailer in the boat). Then you get the white back up lights which is ok too.

It would be better if you can set these lights to either stay on indefinitely or make the timeout much longer like 5 minutes.
