Painted Lower Cladding / Body Trim

Finally went ahead and painted the lower cladding on my R1S. Took them off and primed them and painted them glossy black with clear coat. will clear bra the front bumper corner pieces so hopefully it will prevent rock chips. Really happy with the results.

basically I had the body shop take them all off, then they primed all parts with a epoxy primer and then sand down the primer and spray them with 2 stage (basecoat + Clear coat)PPG glossy black paint. They sprayed bulldog adhesion promoter before spraying the paint. Pretty labor intensive jobs because they needed to make sure not to break clips and distance sensors.

Lot of people talk about sanding the texture completely off, but we did not have to do that. I am pretty happy with the way the texture came out. pretty close to completely smooth to match the rest of the car.

If they use a high build primer that goes a long way to filling in the texture.
