I think this is a case of priority.
Tesla needed a few gimmicks to win some people over. People love the shenanigans.
Rivian is definitely playing a bit safer and more... we'll say 'squared away' with respect to their development.
In this case, buy some stock and spread the Rivian word/love, because the MORE successful Rivian is long-term the higher the probability they have the added leeway of giving their software engineers and GUI/UX developers opportunities to do some more fun things.
Right now, they just have to achieve critical mass, so I can understand why their priority isn't to add some more fun-features. Because we ALL KNOW the minute they start doing lots of fun things, but there's a tiny bug in the software, everyone's coming out of the woodwork to decry "WELL, if they spent more time on Quality control and weren't fussing with adding tugboat noises, this thing wouldn't be broken (for three weeks until the next update fixes it)!"
