This is my 5th day driving my R1S and I am completely in LUST with it! At Yakima today, we decided to install the Yakima Stage 2 bike rack on my vehicle with a e-mountain bike from Specialized. After contacting my good friend Jimmy @rivianstories about hitch plate, we successfully removed the cover and installed the Stage 2. Ask you can see from the photos, it does fit, and supports the rack and bike very well. There is a descent gap from the tailgate - but you cannot open the lower hatch while in use. When the bike rack is tilted down, you can open the lift gate with no problems!

Enjoy!!! :p

Nice! Great looking ride. However, I've never been a fan of tow hitch bike racks. I simply don't trust these texting, distracted, and possibly unisured drivers (I have uninsured driver protection myself) out there not to plow into the back of me. Not only causing damage to my Rivian (or any other car for that matter - yet, especially the Rivian due to time for repairs), but also potentially destroying my $6000 Yeti mountain bike or my $10,000 Time road bike.

Absolutely LOVE your rig! And it's my exact external config...yet to be delivered! Thanks for sharing!

Not to go off on too much of a tangent, but assuming there will be times that you take her off-road, have you thought about a hitch-mounted spare? Once I take delivery, I was thinking that I could get a Kuat Pivot 2 hitch swing-away, and then put a spare tire mount on it for a spare. That way I could have a full-size spare, AND have it easily accessible if needed, AND still have rear cargo space while on trails. The compact spare will suffice for everyday driving emergency needs. For me, that would be a much more affordable and practical solution compared to the $1600 and $1800 options from RiGd and Dirtcom Do you have a use case for such a thing?

That would be something for Rivian to venture off into, or a really good after market option. I have seen one on this fourm, so it can be done. Good luck and Thanks!

Hey Kenny. Your R1S looks awesome! And I love seeing it decked out with the E-bike on the back. Full on stealth!

Nice Bike. I have the Yakama Holdup which I have had for several years without any problems and a Specialized full suspension mountain bike which I have had for over 30 years. Some years back I changed out the clip-ons. My bike nose dived once in an emergency on pavement. It is still working perfectly except that tendency which I accommodate for. I am still waiting for my R1S. I will pictures of the combo when my S arrives.

Ouch!!! I've seen a lot of interesting pictures of damage cause by another vehicle. But as as cyclist, this is the best way to transport my bikes.

Heavy bike + tall vehicle = hitch rack every time. Iā€™d rather risk some idiot rear ending my bike(new bike day is best day) than driving into the garage šŸ˜‚

100 percent agree. Unfortunately for my wife - but fortunately for me - i've become a bike-ho and have had several new bike days since 2020 LOL

Great looking S!!! There are no options for an eMTB except a hitch mount. The weight can't be supported by the Rivian cross bars. Great combo!! If I ride the Transition Spur, it goes on the cross bars, if the Orbea on the hitch 1UP rack.

I have personally removed a seatpost laterally through the back of a carbon fiber bike frame using a roof-top rack. Never going roof-top again. Sometimes, the idiot is you.
