If it were me I would leave it plugged in and set to 50-60%.

My main concern would be the 12v batteries dying.

I'd just leave it plugged in and set to 70%. I just did that for 2 weeks while overseas with no issues. Can't see any reasonable argument for not just leaving it plugged in, as is recommended.
